So do the HF hose reels work better horizontal or vertical? I can mount them on the beam on the wall or on the ceiling.
 
So with the layout for the bench done I could map out power feeds. Everything down low will be ran in EMT 1/2" conduit.

Hey Mike what is the point in having that 90 that comes out of the 4square and runs to the panel if that lower run is coming out of the panel as well?

One feed is for the compressor. They join at the 4 square where it will pop thru the building to the compressor shed. The other line holds outlet and light feed. 3 wires of 8g get a little snug in that 1/2" EMT..
 
OK that makes more sense, did you just have the #8 laying around? #8's are rated at like 40 amps which is overkill for some outlets and lights but makes sense for the compressor.

I was actually waiting for somebody to catch that too,lol.. I went with what the circuit was rated for and the reason for the #8. Had I not needed a light and outlet feed I would never had to join them at the box--just seemed logical.
 
I got the outlets all done at the work bench and the upper wall done. Hanging plywood solo definitely is tricky :awesomework:

I started the welder/plasma plugs and got it all mapped out and the location for the drop lights. I plan on having 3 locations for the welder to plug in so no more trying to weasel the welder around due to a single plug.:cheer:

And Tom Tom dropped this off today--going to give it a test and see if it works. Only downside is the corrugated siding on the building I will have to get creative with mounting it.

I got everything wired in the ceiling and ya I have gotten a little more comphy at heights. I also got the area picked for the exhaust fan and all pre wired.

All the welder plugs done and wired. I did 3 locations for ease of work and the double plugs are so I can run the plasma and welder without swapping plugs. I did this at the old shop and found I liked it.

So the shop is 90% done--just 3 walls for outlets to finish tonight and then onto the compressor shed.

It was a busy/productive weekend.

I got the router mounted finally and the drop lights hung.

It was time to start the compressor shed. I have never pre built walls before so I figured I would give it a shot.

Before the compressor can go onto the slab a good portion of the shed needs built.

Started with the back wall.

Now its time for the heavy mofo :redneck:

When I first brought it home I did in the bed of my truck. I wasn't able to lift it with my tractor. I figured it was too high so I took it back to work and moved it onto my trailer. This time I was able to barely pick it up but pick it up and limit the heavy lifting.

So all we had to do is basically slide it off the pallet and onto the slab.

At this point I was able to get the framing done.

At this point I was able to get the compressor moved to where I wanted it and anchored to the floor.

So today I got all the tin cut/mounted. I finally bought a blade for my skill saw and OMG---made cutting that **** WAY to easy.

So I looked at a couple places for some corner flashing--didn't find anything. I got to looking and it hit me. I happen to have a couple full length strips left over with the big bump so I cut it out with my band saw and it turned out decent.

I whipped out a door (still gotta get a latch) and had planned of using plywood for the face but figured I had a bunch of left over siding and used that.

I got the compressor wired up and fired it off--it is way quieter than my Puma and nothing like the smell of new compressor,lol.

So tomorrow I start plumbing the air system and decided to go with 3/4" to the hose drops..

What kind of blade did you use in your skill saw? The one I got from depot didn't work as well as I had hoped.
 
Did you bolt the compressor to the floor or is it a floating mount/rubber so it can have a little wiggle room?

I drilled and studded the slab and sitting on pads. My old setup sat on oak pads and worked well. This time I am using a high density plastic and I can't feel anything in the shop.

I might have opted for treated lumber for the lower wall plates since they are sitting right on the concrete... moisture and all that jazz...


You are going to love the amount of air that thing produces for sure.

I thought about that too but my other shed is almost 19 years old and still good and strong...
