Race Yota 4653

Sounds like you had a great time, congrats. I wheeled with Elvis out in Moab a couple years back, interesting character.

You meet that crazy ass Australian named Ben?

Sorry I did not stop by and say Hi.

Was a crazy week for us and trying to keep Jeep together. Dont worry we got lost on qualifying also :)

I guess racing ain't for everybody. I think it was all the TV cameras and helicopters that freaked him out Lol.

The hoops ripped off because of the lack of gusseting, being welded directly to the Toyota frame and the beating they took in the woops. Before they came off the truck felt and handled well in the desert. So, plate the frame, make new shock hoops, remount air bumps, gusset everything and a bunch of other stuff so I can go wheeling.

I'm sure the ex co-driver is kicking his own ass enough that it isn't really needed from anyone else.

Is it against the rules to have shock hoop connector bars or tie-ins to the rest of your tube work? or was just over looked?

Back when we raced ,we had the shock hoops tied to the engine cage with plates on both sides, bolted together. I t was not allowed and we quick welded so hoops to the frame . With the same results, except ours ripped off and knocked the oil filter off. DNF

I dont think you can cut throught the inner fenders. So that would keep you from tying them together.

yota frame is like paper and would need to be capped all the way 'round and some long gussets to keep a shock hoop on to take that pounding. Kinda surprised the frame didnt break at the engine mounts after the shock hoops busted off...

Yea, if the schedule stays the same we are going to try and make it to the Big Sky 200 in Broadview, MT in May.

Why the switch from propane and propane accessories?

Propane is great for wheeling but not for racing long distances. Here are some of the reasons we are switching.
-Dragging 10 full propane tanks to the lakebed in California sucks.
-We couldn't bum fuel if we needed to.
-You can't just dump fuel in the tank during pit stops.
-All the guys in my crew are more familiar with the EFI system.
