I am working on designing an adapter...

TH400 to Dana300

I need to make my own adapter.

Still looking for DXF files of the TH400 face and Dana300 face. Can you help?

Pretty much what I was thinking.. :haha:

The 300 is easy, 6 roughly 13/32" holes spaced 60* apart. Just gotta measure the distance across. The 400 is trickier with 5 15/32ish holes unevenly spaced but even then a simple measuring of a removed 2x tailhousing will tell the tale.

Why not make it easy and source a off the shelf 400/208 adapter and get a shaft from AA?

I am still researching if that will work for my situation...It might, but my output shaft might be a bit long. In that case I would need a spacer ring.

I don't have the 208 adapter and will be looking for one of those at the swap meet as well.

Ben no I'm not completely sure of that. I'm thinking there are 4 lower and 1 upper but its been a long time since I've seen one and searching on my phone sucks..

IIRC, I don't believe they're evenly spaced.

The dd machine 231/300 doubler I just assembled can be clocked every 1/4" at the front output due to in part the ability of the 300 clocking ring being completely rotatable. :;

HOS, call me tomorrow morning (say around 9 or so) and remind me to grab that TH400/D20 adapter I have in my container (since I'll be over there tomorrow morning, probably walking over it a 1/2 dozen times). Then you can borrow that NP231 housing for the other end. Then use one of these:

and one of these:

and your golden :D

Or just buck up and tear the tranny apart and put the proper grove in. :fawkdancesmiley:

Do you have to have the files, or can you create it on paper?

Maybe this isn't what you need, but...

Piece of paper and some pencils.
TH400 & D300.
Paper over the end.
pencil on its side and scribble away.

Old school but you'll have "sketches" of the bolt locations you need.

Mark...

I am going to try and pick up the NP208 adapter at the swapmeet that looks like the photo:

Then probably space it out with either a clocking ring or a direct bolt spacer for my output shaft length...what could go wrong?
