Reiter foothills

I received a general response from the DNR regarding my comments...

Thank you very much for your comments regarding the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) draft recreation plan for the Reiter Foothills Forest. The plan is currently undergoing State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) review, the comment period ended on December 4, 2009. We received many comments, which are being reviewed and analyzed as we complete the SEPA process. DNR anticipates issuance of a final SEPA determination by the end of the year. As an interested party, you will receive email notification of the final SEPA determination.

We appreciate the importance of Reiter Foothills Forest to many recreationists. DNR and the volunteer recreation planning committee worked hard to balance public access and DNR

dang..... im gettin way to good at not checking in enough to catch info soon enough :frown:

I think we need something positive about Reiter and give us some light at the end of the tunnel
This just came across my desk today with the OK to publish it. There is no word of where trails will be and how many miles everyone will have. But lets all keep it positive.
I will answer all the questions the best I can

I ask the mods to please monitor any negative in this thread and delete with warning to user

If anyone needs a better copy of it please E mail me and I will get it to you

So this is the planned area, there still needs to be surveys done to make sure that it is ecologicaly sound enough to put in the trails there right? I am just trying to get a handle on how the process is going to go.

For those that don't know: The trail(s) that could pass through the Aquifer Recharge (blue area) is the area of most concern.

If the crossing of this area was sustainable and approved into the trail design plan......we'd be on easy street.

The logistics (parking lot) of having an upper and lower area is a nightmare......damn water.:redneck:

Pulmonary soils have been done, Wet lands and creeks are almost done. Site review for trails is going on

At this point and time there will only be hardened roads in the blue area

What do the numbers signify?

areas for that when people are talking they know where they are talking about
rather than " you know over there by the big tree and the rock with moss on it"

Zone 2 is the rock garden and ryno land just for FYI

So, ~50% of the surveys are done? Also, is that all the area for OHV's? Or will single track/fourwheeler/UTV guys get some more stuff somewhere else?

I guess this asks my question better. :D Are the different areas choices for orv use or are all the areas combined for orv use?

I would say yes to 50% of the servey is done and at this time this is all of the ground that motorized is getting

But with the trail designer and there engineers they can push the density of trails over normal specs that have been followed in the past:awesomework:

Thank you, I find this stuff kinda interesting.:awesomework: Its also good for me to know in the future as I am currently getting a major in Forest Resources.

At this point nobody knows. It will likely be everyone with a motor in those numbered blobs.

Charlie, what is the difference in this map versus what we have been looking at all along including at the trail planning field day?

Disclaimer: None of the above statements are intended to be seen as negative and feel that the need to continuously imply so is childish.

Can you explain what this means? Are you talking about the normal specs DNR has followed in the past? Or that the Trail Planners have followed in the past?
