Water leak g from behind water pump 22re

There are a couple different water pumps that are different shapes.

One has a dip in the top rail and will leak there if on the wrong engine.

Or check the tubes on the back of the timing cover.

the top edge of one pump is straight across and the other style has a curved down "dip" on the top edge.

One pump has a lager impellor than the other. It can be mixed up one way but no the other.

Probably just a bad gasket/sealer or a tube on the back rotted out.

There are 2 different waterpump styles for the 20/22r searies motor(difference is single vs double roller timing cover). From what I can remember you cannot ever bolt them up if they are wrong.

My guess would be one of the heater pipes off the back side of the cover.

werk on toyota much? :corn:

:kissmyass::looser:

Here are both water pump styles. There are also two different inpellors, one is bigger than the other.

See the red line where the dip is.

Also notice in Chopshops pics. The top one has an extra bolt in it. Experienced that for the first time last fall building a 20r.

pretty simple. either you have a bad gasket or no gasket. or one or both of the coolant pipes are leaking on the back of the front cover.
