so i searched and didnt find a thread talking about air lines and fittings for the ARB air locker.

i hate the cheesy plastic lines and brass fittings that are part of the differential bulkhead fittings.

so what do you all use?

i am attempting to make my own setup that uses 37Degree JIC (AN) fittings coming out of the top of the diff.

im making a piece that will smash down on the 3/16 ferrel on the tube from inside and has the proper an fitting. i will need to tap the top portion of the ARB bulkhead fitting to make it 1/8" pipe, modifying the inside of the pipe thread to allow the tube inside and putting a seal smash area so when threaded together it will seal on the 3/16 ferrel.

hopefully this will eliminate the small brass 5MM tube fitting and replace it with steel pipe threads which is about twice the size.

the two pieces i have to modify cost about 20 dollars so if i destroy it i wont be out much money.

so with all that said is there already a better mouse trap for ARB fittings and lines?

the plastic crap lasts a long time if you are smart about where you run it. I like that it is so easy to make a trail fix. A yellow shrinkwrap butt connector works great and even lasts 2 years :awesomework:

Yep, it's all about placement, I had mine attached to the top of my upper control arms and zip tied them everywhere, never had a problem with them, if they are protected they shouldn't ever fail.

I run all braided steel lines and was very careful about placement, sort of the belt and suspender approach.

I dont like the blue either........http://russellperformance.com/mc/driveline/dl_arb_kits.shtml :awesomework:

I bought all the parts seperate to make the hose to length:D

edit: I forgot to mention that all of my hoses (brake/arb) will be the same so ease of spares comes easier. It does add to cost with doing the whole system this way.

I could bring some stuff in for you to see what it is, if you would like. You gots me number! I come to everett now for work.

Tom im using something VERY similar to what you posted. 3/16" steel braided high pressure stuff cause i have a bunch of it. using the same AN fittings but those shown are for the two sides of the switched valve not the diff bulkhead fitting.

different at that end. thats what im trying to better.

i already got whats shown above.

tom please stop by and we can compare stuff. plus you can drive it around the block.....:D i get home about 3:30ish

I've alway ran the blue line but sleeved them with this 1/4" airhose http://www.amazon.com/X50-POLY-AIR-HOSE/dp/B000Q759TE

It's a perfect fit. Tight enough that you dont get crap in between the hoses but your can still get the blue line pushed through. It gets a little hard once you get around 8' but with a light coat of grease it goes smooth.

I use a stouter spring over the bulkhead and haven't ever broke one but still carry a couple of extra.

i get home about 3:30ish

I would love to but....I start at 3pm :booo: dam swing shift!

One fitting fits the stock ARB solenoid and the other is the one that smashes the o-ring in the brass fitting thats threaded into the housing.:awesomework:

The rest of the parts I have are all -3an high pressure line that uses them fancy threaded into tube ends.

ok you have the new system from what i can tell from thier website. i have the old set-up.

i should be getting my fitting i modified today if i can ill post pictures of what i did and hopefully it will work.:redneck:

i work for a hose and fitting company, as well as live in everett. i could swing by some time and take a look and go over some options for you

well feel free to stop by, i think i have a setup that will be better. i got my fitting back yesterday:D

i cant install it till saturday though ill post pictures if its not too smal.

1st one looks like a compression to bsp and the 2nd looks like an npt to jic

second one is correct with the addition of the compression fitting ID on it.:redneck:

which will replace the cheesy first one/ i still need to tap the bulkhead fitting for the 1/8 NPT.

what thread is the bulkhead? i might have an adapter for that straight to jic
i dont want an adapter i want to get rid of the weak assed brass compression fitting for a more sturdy steel with twice the meat at the threads.

the brass fitting has a stresser built right into it and ive seen a lot of them crak or fail somehow. just trying to beef it up a little with a minimum of fittings.

so it dont break on the trail EVER. it came out great, most bulletproof setup ive seen with my eyes. :flipoff:this setup will eliminate the little brass fitting above the other three.
