So I have known my buddy stu for probably 10 years now. In the early days he came along into our small group and we spent many adventures and saw his first toy evolve. Well he sold it and got into quads but always wanted to get back into it. A few months back he bought himself a first gen that was supposed to be built and ready to go. I spent an evening looking it over and it was far from close to being a reliable wheeler.

Move forward a couple months and he found this rig that was built by a young kid and only wheeled once so stu got it for a steal. The sas wasn't too bad but not completed correctly. He took it out on his property and somehow broke the rear end and thats how it sat and of course he wanted me to make it a reliable wheeler.

So he dropped it off and got it into the shop--lots of little stuff to do.

I work with Stu, good guy. He told me about this the other day all excited. Glad you started a thread on this. :corn:

Thanks guys---its been slow getting started since I was trying to get chris's toy ready for him to pick up...

So here is my starting point..

Ya the rest of its still stuck in the drive shaft, lol

These were brand new (TG) setup by the previous owner. Something just doesn't jive though because there is a hella lot of shims for the pinion depth.

So its time to start gathering parts for this sucka.

Nice new battery

New budbuilt crossmember.

Nice new shoes..

It doesn't have any front shocks yet so I had stu order a set of these...

And I gotta tear a couple cases apart and make this complete

So I am going to start with the rear diff...

I thought them darned solid pinnin spacers was the end all to pinion bearing failures? :eeek:

I got the rear all put together.

Stu had said there was no rear brakes (hardly any fluid came out when he pulled the rear shafts). Of course this pile has got to go.

Super simple to get rid of that height portioning valve with the feed back line. Simply take the lower line and bend it into shape to fit the rear brake hose (just about the right length) and toss the upper.

So you gotta take the top line at the front tee and remove it from the system. There are a couple different methods to do this and this is the one I have always used--simply plug weld the port.

Did a quick bleed and got fluid to the rears now.

Since the rear was done for now I threw the new wheel/tires on to rinse the brake fluid mess off--its go to be nice and low.

New step is to pull the bench seat, t-case and tranny.
