Got the go ahead from the boss lady to buy some tars for my new rig buildup. I cant afford anything sticky. I run mostly Clayton, Ok and Hot Springs. Lookin for something around the 42" range. I dont have wheels yet so Im not married to any certain wheel size. Im gona have to build beadlocks cause I cant afford Racelines or TR's or anything like that. Had my heart sat on 43" SX's in 17" wheels (steelies with DIY locks) but damn at the crap Ive read about them unseating the inner bead has me spooked! BUT really after reading seems that all 17's have a tendency to do that....kinda like the ole 16.5's before H1's came into play. Tell me something. Oh, heres a pic of my junk.

not gonna lie I will always be a fan of tsl's.......also just traded for a rig that has iroks and am pretty surprised with them.... i'm located in Tennessee its usually dirt and rock mix everywhere I ride :driving:

You can put an inner beadlock on the 17's and never check up, you just have to have the inner wheel lip od turned down some.

I think when I get a new set I'm going to go 42" MT/R's. Don't see many on here but the guy's Ive talked to that run them love them.

Do not worry about the seating issue 43 stickies are the best tire for our area if you have the right axels.

Inner beadlock? Like a weld on kit? Wouldnt that get all off into some calipers and ****? Or am I missing something? Im trying to be a cheap ass and buying this and that on some already outrageous priced tires gets to be some bank!

43" SX NON STICKY tires suck, I would run a Regular TSL before I ran a non sticky SX.

What's the difference between the two other than size or reason the 43's suck? Not questioning your opinion, I ask because I don't know.

Also, Tim Cameron just posted some 43's for sale on Facebook, below is link and copy of text, I'm not fawking with the pictures.

"43sx tires non sticky mounted on 16.5 hummer 12 bolt wheels. Recentered , wheel stiffeners on both sides, 6 rides on both .
Priced to sell $2500. Call or text me. 615 364 5435"

The regular compound SXs are way harder and don't provide near the traction. I just sort of noticed it from watching so many people over this past year. For example Nick Cooper and Jordan Tanner both went to Non sticky 43"SX tires and they seem to have a lot more trouble now than when they used to run TSLs. Also Bree was running non sticky 43s until the last event and she switched to Stickies and it was night and day differencet in her Jeep/buggy.
No non sticky SX was able to make Cable Hill during the race either. On wet rock they just don't have any traction even when they have been melted down.

Im know expert but I tend to see a lot of different rigs run and I always take notice to what tires they are running, I guess its because I have worked in a tire factory for the last 9 years.

Well I had a line on some like new 43" non stickers for $1900. I might just go with some 42" TSL's.....them sum bitches have been around for a coons age. Cole Im sure you have seen your share.

But hell I still dont know if I want to mess with a 17" wheel? Yall think its cause the sidewalls are so stiff on the SX's? Or is it a 17" rim design....like the 16.5's?

My SXs have never had a problem burping air. I did have a tire get knocked off the bead but I'm pretty sure it had leaked down to basically no air before that.

I'd run a 42" TSL on a 17" wheel all day long.

Gotta say that I really like my 43" SXs (non sticky)...... It's not a bouncer but it's a pretty capable trail rig!! :driving: Run 4-5 psi on Allied Rockathons with no problem... :****:

Your tires are also custom cut, they tend to do better that way. However on slick rock they still struggle.

Also most guys who have problems with tires burping air run raceline wheels.

Yep, cut'em before they ever hit the dirt... Work pretty good for where we ride.Nothings gonna hang with a sticky tire on rock but they (stickies) also won't hold up as long either! :dblthumb: Poor boys gotta make'm last.... :-\
