I know you guys have a plan, but is the engine protection going to be all welded in and if so what is the plan for working or removing it? Other than that question, everything looks awesome!!!! Keep it up and can't wait to see the Deere eat up the Desert. :dblthumb:

The engine comes out the bottom, always has. We have actually already pulled it and the rest of the drivetrain and it is all getting rebuilt as we speak.

Adam, it's looking good!

Couple questions for you. Did Ouverson start making cast knuckles? Last I checked, they were all billet. That has to have cut the price down substantially, and that's great! What spline will the rear 14 bolt be? 40-spline? Required new spindles?

Thanks for posting progress and explanation.

Yep they are cast knuckles. Both front and rear axles are completely new, custom housing 14 bolt. Axles will be all 40 spline.

Down to the little things now. Richie's co-driver will be Brandon Dillon, to get proper headroom we had to cut out the welded in floor to allow the seat to drop an additional couple inches.

It's crucial to have the harnesses pull from just barely below the shoulders for safety. Too high and you'll never be secure enough and too low you'll risk spine compression. Since the driver and the passenger are different heights, and so are the seats, so are the harness bars.

Rear of the chassis it really coming together. We will reuse the existing fuel cell but have better weight distribution and storage space. We have added bracing in the B pillar, as well as got the rear firewall going.

Really getting down to the wire now though... Still need time to test and actually get the rig out to the lakebed. Cutting it close for sure! Having said that, I have all the faith in the world that WOD can make it happen! Good luck y'all! :woot: :woot: :woot:

I've seen some KOH builds that are still nearly bare chassis needing fresh wiring and plumbing, so compared to that they are way ahead of schedule haha.

Yep. They are well ahead of us. LOL

does he have to qualify or do a lcq race to get in?

The LCQ is just for pole position. Dave Cole has let everybody in that raced the LCQ for the last three years that I have been. Even the guys that got a DNF.

A local guy to me is heading out and racing it he didn't qualifie but has passed tech and they are letting him in, I heard they let anyone who shows up race now if thy pass tech because the field hasn't been as large the last few years

I looked at the buggy last night at WOD, they are doing an awsome job everything looks even better in person then The pics show, they crank some awsome work out there flashemifyougotem

Re:

I know this is a random question....bare minimum to race KOH?

Blah this, blah that. Ultra 4 car, tow pig, trailer.....how much else? A lot of DNF's for how much money? Sure it costs just to play, but how much on the cheap side? And don't flame suit on because I said cheap and race in the same sentence. I am aware that money doesn't hurt winning, but that's not the whole equation. People that want to play but don't make six figures a month should still be able to make the show.

it's honestly a great question(s). once my buggy is done, I'd love to do a qualifier (for the experience), how much does a trip like this truly cost? would be interesting to hear costs on what people typically spend on a trip like this (competing in the event, not just going to watch).

lowbudgetjunk, you have to admit, that's some strong irony being that your user name asked that question though :****:
