GR - SRRS Race - March 28, 2015

I'm sure the first hill will not be released until Saturday, but Bents and Dents would seem to be the most spectator friendly hill, not to mention the lunch line being a possible bonus line. I'm no expert but seems logical to me.

I don't think so but not 100% sure, you can get to the race hills in a honda civic without any problems.

Seriously you could get to them in a Civic? I've been on the fence of driving my Civic down or driving my Jeep down. it's a 6 1/2 hour drive and I wasn't really looking to run trails but didn't want to get stuck not being able to get to the events. My Jeep is smaller and on the Gray Rock thread people were saying how rough the trails had gotten. If anything I would have mainly rode access roads and looked at the obstacles I've seen on videos.

I know Cable is close but didn't know about the others.

Short trip for me anyway, leaving Friday morning and out on Sunday. Gotta be at work early in the morning Monday.

Re:

The only hill I could see them running in the cable hill area of the park that I don't see you driving right up to in a civic is tub rock. But you can still drive around and walk down to the top. You'd be close but just not quite as close as all the other hills. I wouldn't be scared to drive a car anywhere in that part of the park if all you planned on doing is watching.

Drive your car, I have a lexus IS 250 and I can drive it around gray rock no problem. If I had a long drive and just wanted to come and enjoy the show I would drive my car.

50 rigs !!! theres no way they will have time to run 2 hills

Man I agree, it will be hard to keep that kinda number organized, and if several turn over or break it will be a looooong day for the guys working the race. But I've been to GR almost everytime the gates have opened and to ME, since Cole is doing the challenge on Cable. Bents and Dents is still the better race hill. I've seen just as good action on it and it's got technical sections and NUT UP sections. It also has the most spectator room. The SRRS guys know what they are doing no doubt. I just hope they are able to keep the recoveries moving quickly. it's going to be one heck of a good show no matter what.

I'm with ol Chilton County about runnin Bents and Dents. Be like old times again bc when I first started going up there they used to race that hill

Thanks for the help guys :dblthumb:

I've noticed also that Dale Larson is not signed up for this year and haven't heard much on him lately. Anybody got updates on him?

Social media disconnect! If you are following him on FB you would know that he is building a buggy with a 632CID motor and Angryfab chassis. :)

Did I see someone say that glass bottles are not allowed at GR?

I don't know if they are, but I'll just pretend I do know and say-

They aren't. Glass bottles have no place at an off-road park other than in your RV/camper.

No glass bottles have ever been allowed since I've been goin. I don't blame Tony for doin that. Bunch of drunks leaving bottles everywhere would be a mess. He's also pretty strict on cigarette butts from what I've seen

Good for him! Those dont go away. I smoked for 22 years and that has always bothered me. People should just put em in their pockets. If you arent willing to put it in your pocket, you probably shouldnt put it in your mouth!
