Aren't samurais supposed to be expensive

I've always wanted to build a Sammy, but in Arizona people want a ridiculous amount for them. I guess it's the same back east.

The tin tops are not in very high demand since you can't let the top down.

Here in FL on CL people ask about $2000 - 3000 for the average beat-to-**** Sami. missing the top, not running, without title. For every 10 Sami's for sale there is about 2 titles for some reason.

Tin tops are basically given away though.

I once bought one that melted a piston in my parking lot for $300. The guy was never able to produce a title, which sucked. I put a $100 engine in it and drove it around a bit, took it on some trails, had some fun. I sold it for $1200 to a guy that was freaking gitty to be buying it. I wish I had looked on CL before I sold it because I could have got $3000 had I known. I knew I screwed up when he didn't even try to haggle with me.

Tin tops up here are worth more than soft tops, and 1100 for that one is a good deal now days. Nice ones are listed anywhere from $3000-$9000 now.

Not always expensive. I bought mine about 4 years ago, it's a soft top. It had an exo, lockers, case gears, 31's and a title for $750 and I drove it onto the trailer ;D ;D

There was a time when they were cheap. I paid $1900 for this one almost 12 years ago. 42K miles pretty much all original.

I've had 2 tin tops, both didn't have much Suzuki left but they were awesome little rigs

I think the prices on Samurai's bottomed out around 2000-2005, give or take 2-3 years. The peak production/import years for them here in the USA was 87-88. Tin tops seem to sell for a little less around here I think. I bought my bone stock 87 model in the March of 2005 for $800. It was a complete stocker in great shape with a decent soft top. 10 years later and a few thousand dollars later it does not quite look the same, LOL.
