I always try to put myself in someone else's shoes in a situation like this. It sounds like this was an honest ****up by the seller, just passing along info he thought to be correct. At least I hope that's the case. I'd be offering to pay for the parts I represented as true and correct and it would be on the buyer to install. That way both parties have some skin in the game. This would be a fair resolution IMO.
Yeah I honestly believe he was trying to get somewhere with the original seller, but once he found out he wasn't I think that was the end of that.

^^^ Yep You hit it on the head. Seller should eat it and buy the gears he represented and the detroits. Hell even if he did a Detroit for the back and a spool for the front would be better than nothing. Cause that weld is ****. The rest of the problems is on you for not thoroughly inspecting it.

That would get in the way of the bolt-ons the seller is trying to fund for his ole lady! :****:

LMAO... How did I know that was coming!! I`ll tell ya this she`s in the 800cc club!! Go big or go home!

She's got a RZR in her chest? SXS brought to a whole new level.

I hate you got the shaft. Lesson to be learned and expect to get nothing. If you get something, smile and be happy.

It hurts to have to eat the cost of **** like this, but not near as bad as it hurts to have a thread started about what kind of no good piece of **** seller you are. People don't forget **** and the right thing to do is the only thing to do. Period!!! Its the cost of doing business and even though its an individual selling a rig its still business. Money can be recouped, a reputation is much harder to repair than a bank account.

I feel when you have an as is where is sale, you should do whatever in your power to inspect and verify what you have prior to completing the transaction. The seller should have said, "I was told" it had such and such, then he wold be totally off the hook. However, I do feel like he owes you one Detroit locker, because he states that in the ad and it is not readily available information from a visual inspection.

I understand you could have opened the difs. But carry it a step further, if he had said flat top pistons, would a buyer tear a motor down before purchase, not practical. So, in my opinion, he covered that up, honest mistake or not.

Locker and gears, two sets of gears installed that is not cheap. I understand the further step of inspection, but really remember someone's word meant something. And if he didn't know you would own up to it. Just like the fact he has logged in twice today and still has nothing to say in his defense.

Understand, but the gears could have been checked visually by rolling it and counting the drive shaft revolutions to get you real close. Not saying you are wrong, because you are not, but you would have caught a 4 cylinder engine, correct? You also did not do due dilligence.

Looks a lot better than mine did...

I sold the buggy to this guy as is I stated the previous owner told me the axles had 5:13 gears and front and rear Detroit lockers. The price of 9,000 of which I bought the buggy for was without wheels and tires. The buggy was not tuned and seats were not mounted in the buggy as I told the buyer I was selling as is. I have since bought a Detroit locker for the front and it is in route to the house in the effort to make the sale right.
