School me on H1 rims

More than that, I have quite a few heavily treaded still Galaxy Bulky Hulk in 15.50 width off my old Boss's 90xt's and 450 Cases. Once you lose a bead and spin the rim in the bead a few times it won't hold a bead anymore. He think's they're trash, so I started grabbing them. My 12.50 chevron style tires are bald now and I don't feel like buying more 12.50's, and the 15.50's won't fit on my rims/won't hold a bead anyway. So I have several hummers laying around still from a trailer load I bought years ago. Thinking about widening (who gives AF if they aren't perfect, its a skid steer without 2 speed) and putting an insert in it. I can do all of it as I have a burn table and buddy has a roll we make tanks on. The insert is where I'm hoping to find something like PVC, or I guess I call TWF as they are in the same state.
 
It's not that hard to seat them. I've cut the o rings that were stretched and used some glue. **** works for me

I can cut you a custom length PVC insert. I was able to spec out and locate the correct PVC size to cut. It's a bastard size and hard to find but I have been able to locate a few sticks of it.

Yes we have a set that are 10" wide that we cut down. Actually used a old wagon wheel center. There on a Bronco with 43s now. Also have another set that were set aside to make 12" wide. Only got one done as we sold the 49s they were going to go. To make the 12" wide set it will take 2 sets of wheels. You just have to have the PVCs cut to order.

Some mud guys run two inner halves bolted together to get a wider wheel.

I like them if you got to take tire off for repair or change tires you can break em down while rim is still on your ride one less step from taking wheeloff then breaking down :ban:

Yep two 12 bolt inner half's bolted together make a 13" or so wide wheel. Can't remember detail.

Definitely get the wheel stiffeners (rock rings).

I don't have them on mine and because of the abuse I now can get small leaks from **** getting wedged in between the rim lip and tire. My own fault.

Back when I first got them, I never had any issues. So get them while they are new to abuse.
 
I am looking for 2 12 bolt 8 on 6.5 if anyone has any to get ride of . I would buy just the inners if someone had some .
Sorry for the high jacking the treed !

X2. 14" wide wheel with no center to remove. I built a set for a previous buggy with a center that bolted to the flanges.

A friend did the same but cut his inner half down to get the backspacing he wanted.

12 are better than 8 bolts, however there is nothing wrong with the 8's.
Buy the pvc inserts
They heavy
Buy them already welded.

I bought the stuff and did it myself from TWF. piece of cake. just make sure you take the time, cut the old rings properly, set up the new centers best you can. I have never felt the need to have them balanced or machined and i've been running them for about a year.

As far as inserts try to find the wheels with the rubber they worked great, I cut down the Mohawk with a porta band very easily and the sides were trimmed to fit the larger bead of a 42'' TSL. You will want to use a ratchet strap to get the insert into the wheel. Also spend the money to get the new valve stem 90's

What if anything are people using to "lube" the stud when you assemble these things. I always see galled studs for some reason and want to prevent that on my new studs. Anti-seize?
