Ordering a new trailer, need opinions!

Does anyone know about this make of trailer? As in, how well built, etc… The make is load trail, similar to Pj trailers, but for a little less. Thanks!

Manufactured in Texas, but a dealer about 30 minutes from me. Im in gadsden.

Cool. If they have one in stock at that dealer, you could check it out and see how well it's built. If it looks well built I'd roll with it. But I would also check to see how expensive and readily available parts are for it in case anything happens to mess up with it.

Not in my opinion, I've owned 3 different makes of car trailers. All were built different, way they pulled, type of metal, way they were wired, etc. Never seen this one in person, so I was just wondering.

Your main difference is spring vs torflex suspension

Not really, there are a few different types of setups as far as axles and suspension goes....yeah couplers are pretty much the same, just some have round and some have square as far as goosenecks go.

That has been my issue, also have to move **** all the time to get to something else, this will all be fixed when we close on the new digs in a few weeks.

I see those at the Richie Bros Auction in Lake Worth all the time. Always brand new. I've been hoping to catch one going cheap, but hasn't happened yet.

The ones I see seem to be plenty heavy built, with drive over fenders and extra wide decks. I think one thing to watch on new trailers, is what kind of tires and wood they use.

I just spent the last 2 months looking at trailers all over. Settled on a PJ Trailer, 20' bumper pull, metal deck, 5200# axles. I've owned both wood and metal and the metal is my preference hands down. Yeah it's slick sometimes but it just makes for a nicer, sturdier, longer lasting trailer I think. You can get recessed D-rings in the floor which I like. The metal floor added approx. 400lbs to the weight of my 20' according to my dealer. I haven't confirmed that however on scales.

I can say one thing. All trailer are NOT equal. Go look at some of these cheap trailers. Take a tape measure and measure the floor bracing spacing and check square. Some of the new ones I saw I would be ashamed to sell. Some had gaps in the welds on bracing and the tongue wraps even. You'll be surprised when you crawl under some of these.

PJ trailers are by far the nicest, best built trailer I saw. PJ trailers come standard with lifetime warranty LED lights and are powder coated (even underneath the trailer, A LOT of trailer aren't even painted underneath). When I saw the PJ trailer it was the attention to detail that caught my eye. For example the wiring. All the wiring was run through conduit and they used the adhesive heat shrink connectors for splices and connections. They also took the time to recess and flush mount ALL the LED lights which there are a ton on my trailer. They come standard with brand new top of line Provider radial tires, and Dexter axles. All of this stuff is standard on PJ Trailer.

The thing that ended up selling me was all the customization options. You can pretty much order a trailer completely custom for no additional fee except for the options you add. I was able to order 6 recessed D-rings all in custom locations on the deck for example. You can change axle configurations, brake configurations. dovetail setups, different powder coat color options, etc, etc. Take a look at there website and you'll see what I'm talking about. http://www.pjtrailers.com/trailers/c5-5-inch-channel-carhauler

Oh. I was told by my dealer who has actually toured the PJ factory in Texas that Load Trailer is almost the same trailer. He was told that two brothers owner PJ Trailers and got into it and the other opened up Load Trailer across the street. At least that's what I was told.

I guess you know my opinion. ;D

The only thing a wood deck has over a steel one is you can screw a 2x4 down to it to help hold stuff, tarps, whatever on it.
 
I just ordered a Big Tex trailer should be in in a couple of weeks. They are nice well built trailers in my opinion compared to others I've looked at. They have nice add on options and some of the standard options that come on them are extra from other manufacturers. Such as dual jacks, fold over ramps, free spare, ect. I think they would be worth lookin at.
 
I was told the same thing about PJ and Load trail when I bought a PJ about 15 years ago. I was also told they were made in Texas, but mine had the removable fenders, and it said made in Mexico on the frame behind the fender. No complaints with the trailer though. I just bust 2 new trailers last fall. Look around and see if you have a dealer for East Texas Trailers. Nicest trailers I found. Priced very reasonable. 18' wood deck bumper pull w 7k axles, spare tire, slide in ramps, led's and 2 fold down ramps at the back(for supporting the end while loading )was $3495.

A lot has to do with operator error...
 
Also too light of a truck with too light of tires makes for a crappy trailer lol.

It the tow rig is marginal the trailer becomes much more sensitive.

Both of these are very true. Case in point you hook a half ton truck to my big tex the truck ain`t gonna like it at all. Not gonna pull as good. Hooked to my F250 I can pull 70-80 mph down the interstate loaded alday long and never get a sway period. I`ve had trailers with fenders and really just like the deck over due to the many different ways it can be loaded. Never gotta fight with tires being in the way of anything. I weighed mine about a week ago and the trailer is 3200lbs. It is 20' long with 2 5500lb axles. If you want something light weight get a car hauler with the two drive on ramps and open center. They pull good to and are much lighter. You can always put expanded metal down the center for loading lawnmowers and 4 wheelers. My last one as like this and it was a Brewer trailer. I can buy a 18' footer for 2000 new. This Big Tex was right at 5000 new. It came with this Jeep I bought off here and was like brand new. I basically bought the Jeep and he through in the trailer.
