I'm planning to color match with LineX or Rhinoliner the bottom half of the Grand. I am leaning towards Rhinoliner because they gaurentee against colorfade and the material seems a little more flexible. What are your opinions and remarks about this. Is there another professional brand I'm not thinking of? I have used the Hurculiner and other self use brands and don't think the quality is good enough for this application. Opinions with experience would be most appreciated. THANKS

My "black" Rhino is a dark grey now... Red tends to turn pink... Mabye if you wax it? Dunno...

Another brand to consider is Arma.

Yeah, Rhino liner had some real problems with fading. More than the others. How old is your application Skrause? I thought I read somewhere they got this fixed, hence the warranty. I think both are quality products from what I can tell, and that prep is 90% of the battle.

LineX of Olympia tried to talk me into black and refused to do red unless I signed a waiver saying I would not come back if it faded! Rhinoliner(puyallup fair) said they would not fade due to some new process, they seemed excited to do the project. Oh and Rhino is cheaper.

I'm also wondering about durability and other possible brands to look into, Thanks guys

I've been fairly impressed with Arma over the two mainstream brands. It seems to be a good mix between the two, not too soft and not too hard, not too slippery and not too gritty. Juuuuuuuuust right. :redneck:

BTW, prep involves chemically stripping off any wax and a quick scrub with a scotchbrite pad. Most places won't apply it to bare metal, they want at least a good primer on there first. Line-X seems to have the biggest problems with adhering from what I've seen, it's the only brand I've seen evidence of bubbling up on multiple vehicles. My Rhino is stuck on good as day one, I can peel it if I'm really patient but it's staying in place like it's supposed to.

Do they have a local dealer?

Ya, in Auburn. I talked to them a while back, asked a TON of questions and they were more than happy to answer. IIRC my quad Taco's shorty bed would be around $325 and a fullsize pickup bed was around $475, standard black and over the rails on both.

Thanks, I'll give them a buzz and find out about COLOR. I'm only doing it if I can go RED. Black will look crappy.

At the $ you said I'm thinking they are pretty equal to Rhino.

They are cheaper than what the local Rhino shop wanted, and that was with the "I'm a return customer" deal. I should be getting the Taco and Dodge done soon, just haven't had time yet. They do colors so red should be possible, but see if you can get a sample to make sure you're happy with it.

+1

Especially if it's a low pressure application material like Rhino Liner, Armorthane, etc. That stuff is less abrasion resistant and chips fairly easily compared to the high pressure application material such as Line-X.

I'm leaning towards another high pressure application material called Xtreme Liner for the bed of my truck. Looks like pretty tough stuff.

That's funny. I'm having this problem with my PAINT getting ground off. It will hold up better than my paint. I had a rig in the past that I Hurculinered. It seemed to give the cut fenders a little better support and held up better than paint

I've never seen Rhino "chip", it's a soft product. It can be cut. Line-x on the other hand can definitely chip with how hard it is. I'm told Arma can chip as well, but they're really good about fixing it if it happens. Part of the warranty I guess.

One thing I have seen with linings when used in the bash areas--it will start to tear and rip off. And once its been raped a little it will look like crap....

so Crash, your saying my whole rig looks like crap???? :haha:

by the way. i did mine in Dura-bake. self application
used their orange and it did fade but it takes a coat of spray paint real well and lasts a good long time.
