Heres the biuldup on my CJ that I recently bought in January. When I got this it was the biggest peice of **** around. Looked like ****, had some pretty scary fab work on it, and barely ran. It needs a lot of work and alot of money into it but am hoping to have it ready for wheelin the begening of summer, so got about 4 months. Its got the 258 and 3spd in it right now. Plan on keeping that in it for right now but have a small block sitting here waiting to go in later on. Running a chev 44 front, 5.38 gears, detriot electratrac, and chromloy shafts/u-jionts. Out back will be a corp. 14 bolt, 5.38 gears, full spool, and disc brakes. Running 44044 frt springs and going to do a coil and 4 linked rear. Gonna run some 39.5x13.5x17 Irok Bias on Beadlocks. Here are a few pics. Will post up some more as more **** gets done.

Finally have had some time and got a few more things checked of the list. Just finished up biulding my front hanger so now its time to get all the suspention under the jeep. Front diff is now all set-up(thanks to Crash) and new U-jionts pressed into the new axles. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some time to Mill my knuckles flat so I can put on my hi-steer arms and biuld the rest of the axle. Also got my beadlocks all welded up, just need to wait on the rings to be powder coated and my IROKS to show up in the mail. Made a little process but have been to damn busy will school and work!

Got a few more things done today. Had some time to Mill my knuckle for hi steer and get it all drilled and tapped. Also got my front frame all boxed in and the hanger all burned on. Now its time to get my axle all assemblied and mount up my tires when they show up so I can get the shackle all welded on.

Got a little more work done. Started to get my frame all plated on the outside, bent up my shackle mount plate and get it all tacked on. Now need to get the axle under it so I can get weight on the springs to set my shackle angle just right. Axle is all done on one side but need to finsh up the driver side. Got the 39.5 Iroks in the mail finally so now its time to get those all mounted up on the beadlocks. Hopefully by this weekend I can get the front all finished up.

Got my Shackles, U-Bolts, and hubs today so I got the front axle under it. Im happy about the location of the axle and the shackle angle but its WAY to tall. It came with a 3" body lift so I am going to yank that out and see how it looks then. Also might try taking a few leafs out of the pack and see how that will do. Damn Rancho 44044's are alot bigger spring than I thought. If I can't get it low enough with those springs maybe I'll have to look into going with something else.

damn that thing is tall, looks like my YJ when I first put waggys on it. My stock waggys settled about 2" after a couple trips on the road and flexing on various stumps.

Nice build. I noticed a couple things. one is next time you plate a framerail you might want to make your plates cut at the ends to a point. When you weld on a frame straight down it creates a weak breaking point. you should make the ends like this> or < so it has more weld surface area too. And I would have moved that front axle another 3 to 4 inches forward. You will need all the wheelbase you can get with a cj5. I had to extend my frame on my old cj 4inches to move my axle forward. The springs will settle a couple inches, I would run with them for a few months and see if they settle. Nice upgrades though, keep up the pics. Are you going out the back pretty far with the rear axle for more wheelbase? I just looked at your pics again and a simple solution to two problems would be to cut your front hanger off and weld it to the end of the framerails on the front of them. this will lower it a little and extend the wheelbase a little. then you can just move the rear shackle hangers forward.

Hey thanks for the info. Good idea on pointing the ends of my frame plates, never thought of that. I plan I drilling a few holes in the plate and then spot welding it in a few spots for a little more strength. I thoguht about putting the hanging on the front of the frame but I will then have problems with my pinion angle. As it sits now my pinion angle is already kinda shitty. If I lower the axle on the front side it is going to make it even worse. Im going to plan on taking the body lift off now and seeing how that looks and hopefully the springs will settle some.

With the back I have decided for sure what I am going to do. I would defentally like to move the axle back though. I was originally going to coil and 4 link it but now I am thinking about just running leafs. Can't really make up my mind on that one.
