When swapping out a TJ motor, for an non-Dodge replacement, the factory guages will no longer work.

You can, if you want, hook up both computers (your new one that matches the engine - and the old one that was from your rig originally). This means two wiring harnesses, two sets of senders, and lots of pain in the ass.

Or you can install new guages

But first, you need to take the old guages out of the original packaging, and build a false / replacement backing plate

It helps, if your friend runs a water jet.

Then you install your new guages.

It was posted up a long time ago about how to do this, and I'd forgotten that. I should have posted this as an answer, but I'll see if I can link to that thread, as I don't want to delete, and repost.

And the reset button on the factory guage is almost exactly in front of the reset button on the aftermartet guage. But to do it correctly, I'd have to pop out the first rubber boot, and slide a toothpick or equivelant in the hole to reset the inner button.
