I tried a search but because 44 and D44 are too short they are ommited automatically from the search, and I get every post that has Dana or Seal in it. Which is a sh!tload.

So i need a set of axle shaft seals for my D44 (stub side), but the brilliant people at my local Schmucks can't locate them. They ordered me one set that looks like it belongs on a transfer case cover or something. It was huge.

Anyone have a part number off hand?

Are you talking about the large seal that is supposed to stay on the stub shaft?

i called randys looking for the part no, and the dude sent me one for free in the mail next day service. they had some from install kits not fully utilized.

never did get the part no.:eeek:

Call Riverside Gear and ask for Bob. Phone is 877-614-GEAR

Bob hooked me up with everything to rebuild my Front Dana 44 from a 1974 - 1976 Wagoneer with the old QuadraTrac case (I'll be putting it behind a Dana 18 with Warn Overdrive later).

Front Axle tube seals - inside pumpkin only
inner hub bearings - where the axle rolls within the disc brake
inside & outside bearings & races
new pinon bearings and seals, plus spacers, etc.
inner seals
New U-Joints.

Everything showed up on time and as promised. In addition, he's got all the old, dusty Spicer/Dana manuals and he likes to paw through them since it's more enjoyable than messing around with the "Cheap junk that is made now-adays"..

I can likely put up the part numbers off my invoice if that will help anyone?

So are you looking for the outer axle shaft seal #48/49 (which is actually a slinger) or the inner axle seal...#31?

I used to work there, and until recently I stopped shopping there because the exact reason you said. The system they use really does suck except for looking up crap like filters and brake pads. Gawd forbid someone had a HD model 1/2 ton that came with 3/4 ton brakes...then you were fawked. :haha:

But I'm somewhat forced into using Schucks again because the only other parts house within a reasonable distance just closed its doors. So now I either have to drive to Kent to go to Napa or I can drive to Black Diamond but that Napa is so small they never have anything instock, and when I'm working on something I need parts now, not in 2 days. :redneck:

I am thinking #49

Crash that looks about right...its the seal that when looking at the backside of the Knuckle is on the stub shaft inside the knuckle. (yea...real technical terms right?) :D

Edit: actaully my problem is, the local kids working there like my daily driver POS Jetta more then my truck. Thats the problem they are all little ricer boys.

If you look it up online they call it an axle slinger and seal. When I bought mine they came together as a kit but here is a link to the whole spindle bearing kit eGay link

Hahahaha the one i work at most of them just dont have a clue whats going on half the time.....and we get the guys that come in with the ricer cars and i have no clue what there talking about, i get all excited when i truck pulls into the lot because for once i will know what they are talking about haahahaha.

It seems to me that NAPA's system for looking things up is what helps them find stuff for me seems much more user friendly thats for sure

Thanks guys, I need to stop in Kent tomorrow anyways so ill swing into Napa and get a set. I apprecaite the help.
