who wants to know?
i am currently building my first toyota and have a few questions that i need help with. first off, i want to run dual t-cases. i have an extra t-case in my shop but im not sure if it will work. everyone talks about "top shift" t-cases. the case that is in my shop has no shifter out the top of it. it has a plate were i would assume this "top shift" would be located. can i use it and if not do they make a conversion or would i be better off selling this case that i have and getting a "top shift". if i should sell it what is a good asking price. second, with twins, 5.29s, a locker in the front and welded rear on 35's what uprades would you guys suggest for my front axle. how much am i looking at and were do i get these upgrades. is my rear going to be ok or should i plan on upgrading that to? third, the 22r thats in my truck got a little deep in the soupy water and needs to be rebuilt. i want to build a decent motor but dont have a lot of cash to spend on it. i have a new 38mm weber on it and am not sure what to do to the motor. im used to v8s and love lots of power, and im kind of weery about the whole 4 cyl. concept, but keep in mind that i have a small budget; maybe 1000 dollars. what would be my best bet as far as "bang for my buck"? what cam would be good to run and possibly pistons? also am i going to have problems with a quick lock in my front end or will it work. it is brand new in the box and was practicaly free. back to the weber what do i need to do to make it work perfect; jetting, fuel presure regulator?, were do i set my float levels at?, or anything else that i should do as far as carberation goes. i know there are a ton of yota guys on here and hopefully i can get some help from you guys. anyways happy wheelin and see you on the trail soon:beer:   :D

you can buy a kit to make youre forward shift shifter into a top shift from Marlincrawler, hey also makes prob the best adapter for the dual cases also. For upgrades to the front axle ur best bet is to go dana 60:fawkdancesmiley: lol sorry had to say it. Actually if you do not plan on going above a 37" tire I would go with a set of 30 spline longfields, Marlincrawler cross over steering and a locker of youre choice. I would suggest a ARB but they are $$$ but a Aussie or lockright style would work just fine. The rear axle is plenty strong for youre current application, maybe through a spool in it.

Now for youre engine I would rebuild what you have and keep it pretty mild with any performance mods because you want youre tourque range down low in the RPM range. start thowing a big cam ect ect at it and the tourque range can get pretty high.

Here is the ultra low buck deal. I had a 20R 4 banger, 5-speed tranny, dual case Marlin Crawler 2.28x2=5.20, 5.29s, 35s and lockrites front an rear. I never blew 1 stock...that's right stock, Birfield joint. I went on everything Walker, Reiter and Tahuya had to offer. The secret is to let your gearing do the work and not your right foot. if you're going to buy the gearing anyway, let it work for you.
