Not a NEW one but 2 different ones I had from doing motor swap. But im about at the point to start buying new everything :booo:

So i'm getting 12 volts at coil and about 5 at distributor. There anyway to check an ignition switch?

Plugged in my spare coil, another distributor, still no spark. Plugged in a other CPS I had from older tranny still nothing :mad:

Fuel pump is running. I can hear it and it pumps fuel up to rail (not sure on the pressure). I'm not getting a spark right now. Plugged in another coil - nothing. Put in another CPS - nothing. Gonna buy a new distributor tomorrow, the distributor pickup cost 10 bucks less than a manufactured dizzy.

92 yj, motors 97 4.0 using OBD1.

I tried to drive my jeep just now and It started up and ran for like 3 seconds, then shut right off with no sputter. I've drove 300+ miles since I've done motor and tranny swap and went wheelin a few times. Pulled #1 spark plug to check for spark and none. This sound like coil or distributor...

Inspected my crank damper and saw where some of the rubber has eroded and appeared to be "walking" to one side so decided to pull it and throw a new one in and no more ear piercing squeal! :awesomework: And for the routing, I lied. All the pulleys seem to line up with each other. The crank damper seems tight? I don't really know how to check if it's bad? Wouldn't of thought getting serp belt on and not squeaking would be the hardest and most frustrating part of the swap FML. Using this exact routing.

Just swapped a newer 4.0 to my 92 yj and am using my old PS pump/alt, running no AC. Have brand new serpentine belt on and it's tight. I'm getting an ear piercing squeal noise from somewhere.. belt slipping on bad pulley? I replaced water pump and idle pulley still squeals super loud. Gonna try...

Didn't set timing when I pulled distributor cap out of my old engine to new one :mad: So it's turning over and not starting. Tomorrow after work is another day night in the shop :booo:

Tagged and marked Pulling motor Pulled all at once. Shop floor carnage. The 97 motor. Newer motor/tranny in. Almost done :D Got radiator and front grill to put in, buy new serp belt that fits. Fill motor and tranny. Hook up battery and hope it starts! :cheer:

I'll take some pics and post them through the weekend.

The wiring harness on the 97 is cut. Would splicing them onto the old wires work? Or should i just use injectors and wires from my old motor? ODBI components interchangable from my 92 to 97? Whats best route to go? Thanks for all the info so far :awesomework:

Mines a 92 yj motor is out of a 97 tj i believe.
