When first looking at it and talking with Arlee, it sounded like he was running crush sleeves and loosing preload. He had said the pinion was loose and had to tighten the yoke nut by 1/4 turn and restake it.
We pulled the diff apart and found a factory crush sleeve and no shims. We slapped it...
Thanks everyone for the replies.
I need to measure out the inner, outer knuckle, the bearing pocket and the spindle.
Don't need it long term, could probably get the measurements needed in about an hour.
Does anyone have one tore down already?
Edit: Thanks for the call earlier Brandon!
Anyone in the the Tacoma and south area have a Rockwell steer axle I can do some measurements on?
Preferably tore apart...... If not, I'll need to tear it apart...... :redneck:
Set up correctly, you should be getting good life out of the Yukons; we've had real good luck with them.
You are fairly close to me, get that 3rd up to Centralia and I'll take a good look at it for you. If you want to bring your housing up we can check that too.
You want as many bolts holding that ring on as you possibly can get.
Think of a tire like a balloon, squeeze one side of the balloon and the other side swells out. Pretty much the same thing with a tire, as you hit a pot hole in the road, the air is displaced and the tire flexes. Add a heavier...
There is a big arguement back and forth whether beadlocks can meet DOT spec or not.
It has to do with the safety bead and rolled lip at the edge of the wheel.
iirc the only manufacturer of beadlocks that meet what most people's interpretation of DOT wheel spec is Hutchinson beadlocks. They...
Howes is great stuff.
I worked at a truck shop many years back and we sold most all brands. We started carrying Howes and everyone who tried it stayed with it. Real good stuff, you can't overtreat and it won't dry out seals.
Yep, I'd agree, take them off your Superduty, they won't hold up... BUT then put them on your trail rig. There's a big difference between a 4,000lb trail rig and a 7,000lb crewcab with a diesel in it.
I don't see the problem with a big muddy swamp if it is OK with the FS, it sounds like a great place to keep the big mudder runners busy, maybe it'll keep them off the smaller trails.
Trash is definitely an issue.
When you say it is a serious eco-disaster, do you mean it has trash and vehicle fluids everywhere? Or because there are mud holes side by side and you had to winch?
Sure, it's just a rebody like stripping a VW bug and dropping a Manx or Speedbuggy fibreglass body on it.
Make it meet all the state regs and you'll be smiling :D
Yes, it is a bigger box.
Most people do the Toy Celica PS swap, the box is the same size as the Celica box, but the pump puts out alot more power.
I did the 80 Mitsu box and pump swap on my last Sami and the pump put out even more power than the Toy pump did, BIG DIFFERENCE!
Wow it looks like everybody is on with 17s, that means it will soon change to something different....
Did I say 17s? I meant to say 18s, yeah thats it, 18s. 15s are old news, 17s are so today, but 18s and you've got something there! :haha:
