    Golden Mountain Off-road Park opening

Looking good. Are there any trail cutting days scheduled?

    I’m new and have questions!

I’ve got a buggy with a 4.3, 700r4, ton axles, 5.13 gears with 42” trep stickies. No problem with power for anything at Harlan, AOP, etc. 113 wheelbase with 21” belly.

    Gooseneck/bumper pull

I have both types and prefer a bumper pull for most things. Much easier to maneuver and pulls well. My gooseneck crawler hauler and the toy hauler are OK, but just more of a pain to drive around. I’ve always heard that a goose is more stable at speed, but I really haven’t seen that.

    Closed Knuckle Dana 70

Since mine was from an IH, it already had 8 lug hubs and had the spicer u-joint axles. I fabbed up some brackets to convert from drum to disc, but sold the buggy before I I finished the swap. I used Ford 35 spline chrome moly stubs and RPM external drive flanges to get rid of the weak 21 spline...

    Closed Knuckle Dana 70

I had one in a 4600lb buggy with a tbi sbc and 4.88 gears. Locker, 35 spline outers with drive flanges and high steer. Ran it with 42" trep stickies at Golden Mountain and beat the snot out of it. I had that buggy for 3-4 years and never had any issues with it. Probably be even better as a...

    Chains/binders or Ratchet straps/axle loops?

Several years ago I was hauling my truggy, the fat girl 5200lb, and somebody stopped suddenly in front of me. I hit the brakes, rear ended him, back straps broke, fat girl hit the front of the trailer, causing me to hit him again and ripping the parking pawls out of the truggy. Since then, I...

    Brake fluid maintanece

I had brake failure in a 36' diesel pusher motorhome in the mountains of Utah while flat towing a car from CA to IN. The fluid was old and had absorbed enough water that the brakes boiled the fluid after a long stint of downhill. I had a supplemental brake system on the towed car, thank God...

Direction changing events in your off roading hobby

I totaled my hot rodded 67 Camaro in 1977 and bought a '53 Willys PU with a flat head Willys super hurricane engine. Top speed of 50mph, but it would pull a train. Had it in the blizzard of 1978 in Indiana and decided that 4 wheelin' beat the **** out of hot rodding. Totalled it too, cause I...

    How many is to many?

2 years ago I paid $11,500 for a GMC 2500HD 4x4 with a 6L gas with 241K on it. Been a great truck so far and pulled 36ft toyhauler with buggy and rzr through the Tennessee mountains with no problem. Probably 14-15K lb load. Haven't had any issues other than the **** heater core connectors...

    The Flu, please read

I'm from Indiana. Just heard on the news that there have been 50 flu deaths statewide this year compared to 4 last year.

    The Flu, please read

I'm a home health RN and have been down with this **** since Tuesday. Never had the flu before but I sure got it now. This is the worst I've ever seen it. Lots of the other RNs have been out as well.

Anyone Tow with a Class C?

To add to what lowbudgetjunk said: If you are looking at a class C pay special attention to the front bunk overhang. Because of the way they are constructed, unless they have a full fiberglass cap, they are going to leak. Period. Very difficult to keep sealed. Check out the frame behind the...

    U joint cap spinning

Another thing you can do is use a thin piece of flexible metal, metal packing banding works well, under the strap to make up for the stretched strap. I've done this before with no problems. At the least, this will show if a stretched strap is the issue.

Saturday Aug. 6. Where's everyone riding?

Glad they've got a good warranty. Doesn't look like it had much spline engagement?
