Haven't read all the posts yet. But from reading up on the .308 it looks like it would take about 32-36 MOA to reach 1000yds. So that is approx. 32-36" high at 100yds. You might want to rethink your post. As the .270 is alot flatter shooting then the .308.

For my 30-06 I was using Varget with the best results. You should find a load that you like before you load up a bunch of rounds though. In my experience one powder can deliver sub-moa groups while others will give 4"+ patterns at 100yds.

The "Hunter" model have the barrel milled out for attaching rings. Where the standard models would need to be drilled and tapped to do it right. But a BIG +1 on the 41mag. My dad just had his 6"blackhawk stolen. I probably shot that gun more then anyother I have ever touched.

Look for the Super BlackHawk "Hunter" for single action. Or Redhawk for double action Ruger 44magnums that have scope rings in the box. BTW I really like my Colt 44mag. The Anaconda's don't have as good of a reputation as the python, but I don't care.
