    voltage, wiring or alternator issues?

First off your rig is wired about as ghetto as it could possibly be.... Voltage dropping for a second here and there isn't such an issue. The way it's wired you're never going to get a accurate reading anyways.

    Hydro steering issue

A clog or I poorly assembled line could be inconsistent also. More likely though to act up with engine RPM I think.... Don't rule out anything yet.

    Hydro steering issue

With a serpentine I think all you could do is route it so it has more wrap on the pulley...... Before going through all of that have someone look at the pulley while it's acting up. Should be able to see the pulley start to spin slower or momentarily stop with the engine running. This is just a...

Anyone ever use screws & tubes?

Weld in beads work fine on 16.5 rims if done right. Search the subject and "Scoutaholic" on PBB. Did it long ago...... And this s no replacement for bead locks..... Also running tubes at low pressure is asking to rip off a valve stem.

    GM TBI question.

Short answer is yes it will work. It will likely require reprogramming and you should swap out the "limp home" chip for a 8cyl one. Maybe swap injectors depending on some details. No mass air anything to worry about.

Tire Vulcanizing in the North Sound

From what I understand most shops that "do vulcanizing" actually send the tires out. Seems as though it depends on the person who processes the tire at the outsource as whether they will actually fix the tire or not.... Took one of my crawlers to Phelps in Everett and showed/ explained to them...

    Broken stud on car trailer.

So I unexpectedly had time to fix it today. For the benefit of others searching...... Yes it's a press fit stud, 1/2-20 by 1-7/8". Diameter of the knurl IIRC is 5/8" but if you do this just knock out a good stud and match it. Very easy job to do don't even have to take the wheel off from the hub..

    Broken stud on car trailer.

Had a bad tire on my trailer so today I changed it out. One of the studs broke off when I tried to remove the nut. 5 lug 3500lb axle...... I want to use the trailer this weekend and probably won't have time to fix it before then. Anyone have experience driving a car trailer with a stud missing...

A week or two? Take it to a different shop. Should be able to get that back in a couple days or so.

    MSD Distributor

Good point. The pump stopping couldn't have sheared the dist shaft.
  15. B

    MSD Distributor

What engine?.... Why does the distributor shaft have a roll pin when the gear is on the oil pump shaft? Are you sure it wasn't just a hole with no pin installed in it?
  16. B

    MSD Distributor

Sure you don't have that backwards?.... Yes this does happen a bunch. Typically what happens is the oil pump jambs which stops the distributor and shears the roll pin. It's highly unlikely that the distributor pieces tore up the gears as when the distributor broke the engine also stopped...

    head gaskets?

As far as steel shim gaskets sometimes they are what's needed if the gasket is very thin. Lots of people have had issues with them leaking when not installed correct or if the head and block are not perfectly flat. I've used them with good results.

    head gaskets?

I wouldn't assume the gaskets that came off were the correct or best ones to use. Is this a performance application? Google "quench".

    weld on beadlocks question

My .02c...... Grind the welds enough to where the tire mates to a flat surface. Use anti coning rings.

    Timesert question/spark plug...

Green Loctite probably isn't going to work well here. The heat would break down the glue.
