20R oil pressure Q

Whats normal oil pressure for a 20R with 175K miles on it?

Mine is PRETTY low when warm.

Should I through in new rod and main bearings?

Factory numbers for both the 4 & 6 cylinder engines
Oil Pressure @ Idle - 4.3 psi Minimum
@ 3000 rpm - 36 - 71 psi

they don't take a lot of pressure to keep alive, probably one of the reasons they last so long. i'd like to say mine with 300,000 miles on it idled at around 5-10 depending on the temp, and went between 60-80 under load.

Ya, don't be afraid of low oil pressure at idle on the 20-22r series motors.....

I still have the the stock 80's oil gauge in my truck (the one down by the shifter). It reads oil pressure in some funky measurement (like kg per cm3. not sure exactly...) Anyways, i dont know what the fawk that means. The gauge swings between the numbers 1 and 6. Anyone know what gauge i'm talking about and how i can translate that into PSI???

I take it when you changed to a PSI gauge you also had to change the sending unit???

My truck has the idiot light. I bought the Toyota gauge set at the swap because I wanted the pod to put in a set of after market gauges in. My truck doesn't have the wiring to hook the origonal gauges.

I would guess that the sender is the same, but the gauge faces are printed to read the correct pressure metric or standard. Maybe give an auto shop a call and see if they list different senders.

The gauges are yours if you want them. I can't say if they work or not.

No no, my plan is to do Autometer everything. I have already collected some gauges, i just need a few more then i'm gona rewire the whole damn dash. Actually i was thinking about having it done by someone else just so it will get done in a timely maner...
