I have a 400 turbo trans in my buggy. I'm having problems when get on a steep hill the pump bushing for the torque converter is walking out about 1/4" and cutting the front seal and of coarse it then starts pouring fluid. It's done this 3 times so far. I've used lock tight and staked it with no avail. I think it's getting "dry" and causing it to spin. I'm in the process now of putting a new front pump in now. I was wondering if something else could be causing it to walk out or do y'all think a pump will solve my problem.

i would check runout on the converter snout, or just replace it along with the pump. a tweaked flex plate could also do it. I rebuild them for a living, and have heard horror stories of brand new aftermarket torque converters being out of whack.

Yep that's the problem. Put it in the lathe and it wobbled pretty bad didn't get out the dial indicator. I'm gonna replace it and a new pump. Thanks for the help I'd never thought to check the run out.
