Running flipped low pinion d60/gm14 in a go fast rear engine buggy, no bigger than 42's and need the gearing. I'm running a 4l80e and a 450 horse SBC, even with the high pinion front how much strength am I giving up going with a 5.38 over 5.13.

5.13's are a little easier to source. A few times I have had trouble finding the 5.38's but everyone had 5.13's in stock. I would stay with 5.13's just for this reason.
