700r4s 27 spline or 23?

i have a 700r4 tranny that has a 27 spline rear shaft and am wondering if maybe its a 2 wheel drive version? i was told a d300 would bolt on to it so i was going to put the 231 crawl box to d300 on it but the 231 needs a 23 spline. if there is a two wheel drive and 4 wheel drive version of 700r4s are they 27 and 23 spline? if so can i get a 23 spline put it into a 27 spline tranny? or do i have to get a new tranny? thanks

A 2wd trans will have the output sticking wayyy past the area where the adapter would bolt to the tranny....
 
23 spline out put shafts can be purchased from companies the AA, JB conversions and more. I believe most if not all 700r4s are 27 spline. Mine has a conversion kit in it. If you want to run a crawl box you should have no problems, you should be able to find a 231 w/ 27 spline input. 27 spine outut of trans to 27 spline input on the doubler, 23 spline output of the doubler to the 23 spline input of the d300
 
yeah i just did a ton of research but havent seen anything about a 231 that has a 27 spline input. problem is i have the stub shaft for the 231 to d300 and now relize the 231 wont go to the 700r4 and already got the d300. if you know of a 231 tcase that has a 27 spline what is it? i did see someone on a pirate board talking about there was a chevy 231 tcase from like a s10? maybe that would be 27 spline if it exists? i looked at the adapters for a 700r4 to become a 23 spline and there $400 bucks! not really what im wanting to do. anybody know of any other kinds of crawl boxes from a 700r4 27 spline input to 23 spline output?
 
get a 231C HD from a S10/blazer mid 80's-90's ish. they came with a 700R4 and a 231 tcase. Make sure to get the factory adapter between the two also. I respnded in youre earlier thread about that, call up D & D machine and get there doubler. Its a easy bolt on conversion to double those up, way easier then the toyota doubler. Any questions PM me and I will be glad to try to help u out..
 
or if you have adapters to use a Jeep 231 you can just switch the inputs and put the 27 spline input in the Jeep 231.
 
yup thanks guys ive figured it out now kinda scared me for i bit but got it figured out. ganna get a s-10 231 and my buddy who already has my stub shaft i need for the crawl box thinks we can switch the inerds and still make it goto the d300 and all will be good!

anyone have a broken s-10 231 tcase? just need the front half! thanks
