I've given up watching the build out of sheer jealousy that I don't have the time to be that good in the shop.

The build is truly magnificent. I agree with the above comments. Throw some pooky weld in there somewhere or forget to do something and leave it. Lol

Lol, I don't photo all the welds...there's a few I'm not proud of.

Lol.

Yea that's a mistake I made. I tried to clock the fitting on the accumulator, (which is still under pressure and holding 3qts of oil), in doing so I must have damaged the o-ring at the end cap, it has a slight seep of oil now...

Finished yesterday's panel attachment. Can't do the forward piece until the cab is sealed. But I did get the transmission cooler mounted.

Let us know how those dies work.. I found this 1/4hp motor and 1200:1 gearbox in the boneyard at work.. gonna make a nice powered bead roller.. "someday"..

Nothing much new to see, finished the passenger side rear half tins. Started the templates for the front section of the rear tins on both sides.

The area between the forward and rear tins (around the coil over) will be covered also.

Finally had a few hours to compete a panel. This one has some functional details. Of course the mesh serves as ventilation for the trans cooler. The cubby hole is designed to be directly behind the factory fuel fill door. It will be used for storage of the tree saver and d-ring. It has its own ventilation and drain ports. Hard to see it in photos, but I also bead rolled the mesh to raise it flush with the surrounding aluminum cut out. The dimpled hole is aligned with the upper shock mount bolt for checking torque or for service, if for some reason the panels and bed are not removed.

As everyone else has said, your work is amazing. The finished (everything clean and tidy) look you give separates you from us hobbyist. thumb.gif

Sorry if you mentioned and I missed it but besides the appearance, is there a reason you are adding all of these tins? Seems like just another layer of stuff to remove when you are broke down at RM103.

Aside from keeping the engine area cleaner, it's as much a style thing as anything, and I enjoy doing it. If I race the bed will be removed, and honestly don't feel there is any reason to pull the rear panels off for any repairs, in a race situation, maybe the front. If the rear panels have to drop in a race, I've got bigger problems- I'll at least have a good seat to view the rest of the race...tow my ass back to main pits when it's over, lol.

But frankly if I was building a dedicated full time race truck, the entire build would be substantially different. That's just a bucket list check I intend to make in the next year or so. This truck will be an all around achiever. Street, trail, race.

I can say I'm getting alot of enjoyment out of building it, and I'm certain I will get just as much out of the performance of it. I'm really excited to see the difference in trailing arm science/tuning versus axle mounted shocks, especially on southeast trails.

(Got my fox DSC adjusters in this week, will be putting a base shim in the shocks soon...)

Yes the updates have been slow last couple weeks. Busiest time of year for my scrap business. Plus, I just flew back from San Diego from visiting my younger brother. He was getting married, and not only asked me to attend, but arranged for me to be the officiant...

I am the oldest of three, 2.5 years between each of us. We lost our parents when I was 18 (42 now), and I'm the patriarch, oldest living Cutler in the tree- according to Darren (middle child and in the pic, the groom). Youngest is Harley on the right.

But, back to our regularly scheduled programming....

I'll be back I the shop tonight... lots to be done.

Changes your direction in life for sure. I was 2 weeks into my freshman year at NC State majoring in aerospace engineering, but had to return home and take care of my father sick from cancer, of which he died from 4 months after my mother. Of course then had to help look after my brothers. Such is life...

Finished a couple panels today and began layout of the rear taillight panel. The factory taillights will be functional when the bed is on but these will be lit when the tailgate is removed.

Drivers side rear panels are officially done.
