95 YJ 4 banger engine noise

My 95 YJ 4 banger sounds like a noisy diesel. It's also burning about a quart of oil every 300-500 miles.

I had found an article on replacing the valves/lifters a while back that seemed likely fix. Now that I have some extra $ I can't find the article.

Any body have a linky to any articles on fixing the dreaded Jeep engine noise?

Just be carefull going with that kind of info--I would suggest having somebody look at it or even spend a little and have an expert diagnose it first----- Its no fun throwing $$ away....

Always...I'm too ignorant to go poking around an engine without some good direction.

My Pop-in-law has owned and wheeled a few Jeeps. He thinks it's a normal old Jeep sound. But it's so loud that I'm having trouble ordering from drive-thrus.:haha:

Any one have any recommendations for a good jeep mechanic in the Edmonds or north Seattle area?
