there was a little girl playing in a park with her mother near by, but before the mother could get to her daughter the 70lb dog had already did its damage... he licked her in the face and sat happily while she hugged him and tugged on his floppy ears. its funny seeing my 5yo, 70lb AMSTAFF being happily led around on a leash by a 3yo little girl whom he had never met. other dog owners watch in amazement while thier little yap dogs are going ape **** and barking at every person that passes them. true story, happened in a park near my house while we were having all the good weather. the little girl cried when it was time for sam to go home... my wife had to promise the little girl another play date with the "vicious pit bull" :D

I heard that some kids also found a loaded handgun in that park and while playing with it they did not hurt themselves or anyone else. Therefore, based on a single anectdotal experience, it must be okay to leave loaded handguns in parks where children will find and play with them. :rolleyes:

nope... i am smart enough to know that its dogs in general that bite people not just one breed. bully breeds get bad press because of bad people. they are one of the most human friendly breeds and esp to children.

Last winter my wife was attacked by two "Pit's"! Don’t even go near that subject I HAVE the damn experience! She was bruised from above the waste to the lower calf by multiple bites for many months and to this day has a little hesitancy of any large dog. Thank god for heavy clothing!
The fact is that 95% of the time it is not the dog rather the "MF" owners.

Now if only you were smart enough to know that the "bully breeds" (interesting that you would refer to you supposedly nice, friendly dog as such) attack FAR more viciously and inflict FAR more damage.

When was the last time we heard of one of these vicious golden retrievers tearing a little girl's face off? Never?

I don't think that guns or "bully breeds" :looser: should be banned. There should be some reasonable restrictions on their ownership as well as strict consequences and liabilities for misuse or neglect. Want to own a pit bull? Carry a couple hundred thousand in liability insurance. No insurance, no dog. Make sure the thing is controlled at ALL times. If it gets lose, fine the owner and possibly confiscate and destroy the animal. If it ever makes an unprovoked attack, it is automatically destroyed. And fines and possibly jail time for the owner.

It's plain assinine to proclaim "bully breeds" :looser: safe just because of a single incident. Especially with so many stories of the complete opposite experience.

Most dog bites are received by the owners of the dogs (The stat is like 99%).

I honestly believe that the only reason that PitBulls have a bad rap is that, when they are abused or mis-trained, they can do a ton of damage with their very strong jaws. That makes them attractive pets for idiots everywhere. Unfortunately, that gives the responsible pitbull owners a bad rap and puts them constantly on the deffensive. Just watch. . .
