In my travels I have heard of the birfield breaking described as a Fuse of sorts for the drive-train. evidently it is a weak point,

I have a crasy idea, move the fuse panel to where it is a bit easier to get to, take Two of the bolts out of the Frt companion flange, or may be just 1 and put the bolts in the glove box with a couple of wrenches,

Then the next time your out givin it hell instead of snapping a birfield you shear the bolts of the companion flange, crawl under you rig and put the spare bolts in and carry on rather then blowing your whole day reworking the infamous busted birfield.

maybee worth trying to play with,

Dude get Longfields and the birfs are no longer the weak point. Do some research before you post.

all day to replace a birf?

obviously doesn't know what he's doing.

i'm not a toyota guy and i've helped change them in as little as 30 min.

Sounds like your using the wrong greese.
Thats what i was thinking, your supposto use some kind of thick oil....right? :shaking:

This is the dumbest idea I have ever heard. Did you toyota engineer friend tell you this?

It wasn't any better when Warn came up with it.

Actually, I sorta take that back... This idea is dumber still

No, dammit, it was the 60 year old jeep manual.

Scenario for Trannybuttslut,

Lets say someone goes with your stupid ass idea. They shear off two bolts. Ok, according to YOUR theory just put 2 more bolts in the other two slots..

OK Einstien, lets say you shear off those two remaining bolts.. Now your ****ed.. You have a flange with 4 sheared off bolts and no way out.

What did your engineer friend say to do in this situation? :corn:

lawn mower

This little idea comes from the lawn mower end of things, you see theres a key way that shears rather than breaking the crank or bending it, this is good engineering, very simple and easy to change a key way rather than replacing the eng,

In other vehicles main shafts will snap, ujoints break, yokes will snap and ect

The birfield crowd with the double dog transfer cases always pissing and whinning about breaking Birfs thats what you have told me now evidently no problems. ???

As far as other issues that surrounding the enclosed knuckle, I have been advised not to bring up the real issue of busted Birfs and trashed trunion bearings,.
Personally I like my nasty old ford that just snaps u-joints if I get to crasy.

While I gladly rebuild man 5sp Toyota trannys that folks drive around in 5th gear and lug the 4-bannger and snap the little 5th gear, I do tell them to be aware of this situation, so it doesnt happen again, just common sense stuff, some thing that seems to be lacking in some circles,

And sure if you do something often enough you can get quick at it, while my approach is take the time to do it right the first time,

just throw a ujoint back in it?
are you nuts?
you still have to pull the spindle and other stuff.
and normally you screw up one of hte ear on the shaft as well.

what have you been smokeing.. been a while since i've been as HIGH as you obviously are.:eeek:

I know I dont want my front driveshaft coming lose and taking out my oil pan or brake lines.

Lawn mowers are a little differnt then a wheeler.....

The weak link in a Toyota drive train comes down to the Ring and Pinion gears.

Tranny do your research before you post!!!!!

Um...

You do realize there's no law saying you can only carry two spare bolts, right? :rasta:

(blue oyster cult voice on) Dear Lord....How long can this go on???(Blue oyster cult voice off)

so i was watchin this **** the other day and i got a great idea... these 2 chicks were violating each other w/ a 3' long 4" thick double ended dong and w/ tranny's "good engineering" i thought it might work out to super heat some driveshaft flanges and melt the donger's heads into them and viola! a buffered drivershaft w/ no shock load and you'd be the envy of all your friends :awesomework:

Not only are you wrong again, apparently you don't listen, either.

there is no lube, whether it's the stuff you think is right, and isn't, or the moly fortified stuff that IS supposed to go in the closed knuckle, that is going to stop a stock birf from going away.
Longfields take care of THAT problem.
the companion flange bolts being the weak point, is also a bad idea, as expressed above.

5th gear being weak in w series is well known, you are not a pioneer of this information.

and putting your incorrect slop in the knuckle and birfield is NOT the correct way the first time either.

You aren't doing anyone any good. all you're doing is :stirpot:

Do you carry a bolt extractor in your rig?? He said sheared off. I'm thinking worse case scenario and you jacked up your flange and your ****ed in the butt my tranny slut.

Do you carry a bolt extractor in your rig??
No. I don't plan on breaking a hundred bolts during the course of a wheeling trip. But if I did, I'd carry lots of bolts and tools to make sure I could replace them when they broke.

At least try to be as smart as the retard that came up with this stupidity to begin with :flipoff:

lol I think its good comedic value to have him on here. It'd be no fun to ban the dumbass
