This will have some SAS content eventually, but for now, here is some other stuff:

Alright, well I started on my winch bumper a little bit, i didn't have as much time into it as i'd like but I have a couple pics to get this ball rolling.

I got the main front bracket cut to length, the winch plate cut to length and the tube bent/cut to length. That's about it. I am going to drill holes to bolt it to the two front holes on the frame for now, then final weld plates onto the ends/sidecaps. I think this setup will be tucked up fairly tight to the truck, I plan to cut and relocate the stamp metal in front of the radiator to gain some much need clearance.

Taking the front bumper off is progress right?!!?

Here's kind of how it will look:

Ya think so? Did ya think this thru? I dont think this is a good idea.

You should think about this some. :kissmyass::haha::haha:

Bout time I see what you're doing with this thing, I'm sure I broke free 99% of the rust down on the undercaraige over the years working on it.

CHOP SHOP: YA POO POO HEAD! I probably have more hours into drawing up, designing and figuring out that front mount than time actually building it! :haha: It's a disease...... :redneck:

tlcruiser66: So far everything's been easy to work on, I know we had breifly talked about those wheel spacers, I think i got the problem fixed (didnt have time for a test drive) but those extra thread lug nuts, wow, they really sured up the spacers from wiggling around. I will not run spacers without them, and for $9 for 12, it's worth it to me for the added insurance. :awesomework:

I've been heavy into the maintenance stuff lately (something i NEVER do) I got a new carrier bearing for the rear d-line in and fised the steering stuff, dad cleaned up the battery terminals. I'm having a hard time justifying a SAS right now. The thing flat goes.

I don't know... the drawing doesn't match the work...

the winch plate in the drawing is not showing it attached to the tube.. shows it just short above it... hmmmm

Wow. This is an amazing build thread. Hey, while you have that tube bender out, I know a guy who needs some bumper work done, lol.

So the winch mount is finsihed and hopefully on it's way to be powdercoated this week. I ended up deviated from my CAD plans when i found out just how much of my stock bumper i was going to have to cut out. So I notched the 2x3 tube to lower the winch down 1 1/2" or so and narrowed the support hoop.
I also rotated the winch clutch handle 36 degrees to be outside the bumper. And took off the winch cable.....
Redoing my original plan:

Almost there...

The winch wasn't bolted for this pic, but i think i coulda shortened the distance between the fairlead and winch up a bit....

I got the bumper winch remote plug finished up, the solenoid box hidden from view and the winch is now all wired up and working!

Overall without the winch plate or winch on (was redoing the fairlead mount):

I repositioned the fairlead mounts back further onto the winch plate to put it far enough back so that the plate will hit the rocks/trees/whatever before the fairlead does, I didnt like how it was hanging out past it. Hopefully keeping it from getting messed up and ruining my new fandangled winch rope, which came in last night.

Here is the hook...I'm hoping it's going to be strong enough. :D
