dana 60 stub length difference

i have been searching for some new 35 spline outers for my gm king pin dana 60 some i find say 12 in length and some i have found say 11 3/8 in both say 77-91 unless i have just gone retarded is it that some companies are doing over all length and some from center point of ear to spline end.. what is the difference
