Drinking and Wheeling

Hardline Crawlers - Rock Bouncer Builds, Tech & Off-Road Trail Talk

Interesting topic, though for the most part it sounds like an attempt to rationalize and justify a behavior that people know shouldn't be doing.

I don't think people should drink and drive period, trails/road. Yeah it effects other people, At the least of which I'm tired of seeing beer cans on the trails. I don't like turning around and backing down a trail because drunks are having a goodtime and have totally blocked a trail. And what I really hate is people that come through my workplace FUBAR'd by that "responsible drunk" and watching the pain of people that are effected by that "drunk's" actions. And hearing how the "poor drunk" will never do it again, boo hoo.

So if you are in such control and can control yourself so well and only have one or two then F'ing prove it and control yourself till after your driving is over.

Damn I'm long winded, I'll shut up now.

Have a few beers on the trail.. sure why not.
Get LOADED on the trail, Nope.
Its all about personal responsibility. I can have 6 beers on a 12 hour trail day without issues.. Down 6 beers in an hour.. then you have issues.

Is it OK for sober people to leave pop cans on the trail?

I block the trail constantly while drinking, always gotta stop to pee :D

If ya can't beat em' join em'. You sound like a guy that needs to tie one AWN.

I don't do it but I know a few friends who will have a few beers thru the course of the day. Its the sloppy drunks that I have an issue with.

Now that weed is legal and on the same playing field as beer,,,,,

Do you have a problem with a guy having a "puff or two" and hitting the trail? :corn:

I don't think the use of weed will change much on the trail. I don't like the smell of it--stinky ****..

I used to get **** faced while wheeling. Then porter invited me to come drive the green machine one memorial weekend but I wasn't allowed to drink. I had a blast sober and that was something I didn't expect at the time. I've wheeled sober ever since and now I don't even wheel. :haha:

I believe that weed, alcohol should be done when you are not wheeling. I think you should be clear headed at all times behind the wheel

I drank on the trail early on when I started wheeling but stopped shortly after.. I don't think I could wheel while stoned. I'm a air head when I'm high.

Ha Ha, intervention son.:D Good times, barrel roll with a 360 end over end:eeek:. Probably good you were not drinking that day so you remembered the best rollover of my wheeling days, and I am sure yours too. Well for you maybe not, that forest service road crash probably topps for you. Glad your still here Trashmaster, that could have been real bad.:;

The roll off of moon rocks was groovy but the roll off of milk creek fawking hurt! Something about 2 3/4 barrel rolls through trees in a roofless/windshieldless truck and all that. :redneck:

I realy believe you need to be in complete control while on the trail.
If you can functions at 100% while smoking (some can) then its not gonna bother me to much. Sipping on A , as in one single beer over the coarse of an hour or two might be one thing, but Drinking on the trail is not cool at all in my book. Even if you "think" your in control. It puts everyone at risk and adds to the bad stereotypes associated with wheeling, not that pot doesnt. I dont go wheeling to drink or smoke, I go to wheel:awesomework: Thats my two cents on the matter

I generally tend to do both when out wheeling.

It is all about having respect for others and being responsible for your actions.

I don't get wasted by any means. And have never been a hazard to others.

Everything with moderation is my .02..

I'm hard enough on a rig sober, drunk I just break more **** or push it that little bit further. I used to drink and drive everywhere when I was younger and dumber but after a good wreck or two and now the thought that it could likely end my career is more than enough to keep me out from behind the wheel after anything more than 1 or 2 beers.

My problem with trail drinking is that so many folks will down beers on the trail, then throw their rig up on a trailer and drag it home as soon as they're done. Just cause you stopped drinking for the time it took to get your rig back on a trailer doesn't make you magically sober.

Basically, you're not supposed to drink and drive on a flat paved road, what makes you think it's a good idea to drink and drive on a trail where you're doing **** that a truck isn't supposed to do?

I can say in 20 years of wheeling I have probably only had like 3 beers on the trail.

I have way too much into my rig to even think of trashing it due to booze let alone what might happen to a person...

This goes for so much more than just wheeling.

I have way too much into life in general to **** it up by being compromised at the wrong time.

All things in moderation... some people can have just one (toke/drink) and some can't... That said, I agree that piss drunk/ super stoned anywhere while operating a vehicle is bad news...

True but I was keeping it wheelin related :D

I drink and wheel, but then again I drink and do just about everything except my job haha. That being said I feel I am responsible about it and do not get trashed unless my wife is there to take over driving duties. I also am very anal about cans left about and pick up other peoples trash when found.
