Duramax question.

Buddy bought a RV with a duramax in it, (2007 year model) He has around 6000 miles on it and has gone thru 5 quarts of oil. I never heard of this on the new engines, he was told due to break in.
Please discuss.

The thing is not smoking and haven't seen any drips on the ground.

Your going to have them document it at the dealership you bought it. Its not un-common to burn oil

He has been writing down when he adds oil, how much he put in and what the milage was at time of adding. It's in the shop now for other problems with the rv itself and once the RV shop is done with it it goes in to get the engine looked at and the suspension fixed.

Starting the arbitration now, too many issues for a NEW 160k RV.

Something has got to be wrong with it. When i worked at the GM dealership for 14 months i never had any Duramaxes with oil consumption issues.
