• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Finally....Da new rig..

In the past I hated electrical. Now it's my occupation and I've come to enjoy it.. Im sure it's been asked or mentioned before, on your battery cables or larger cables do have a large crimper or do you solder them?

In the near future I'll be relocating the battery in my mustang along with a partial engine harness wire tuck and will be making some custom length cables.

I crimp "nothing" :awesomework:. Solder is slower but gives you a WAY better connection point and water protection.

I solder my battery cables too. But only after I crimp them. :D

Rig looks sick btw. Awesome work and attention to detail.

Just putting along....

So before I could continue with the engine wiring I had to get a portion of my last issue done--that being the air filter. First though I had to modify the inlet on top of the throttle body to make the rest of the air filter setup more feasible to do. The inlet is odd with a clip that grabs the front side and a retainer on the rear. So the material its made of is actually very easy to work with and welds nicely. So I started by cutting it up and finding a happy place for the inlet to point and this is what I came up with...

And the Maf sits right on the modified top. Its still a tight bend but with the ideas I have I should be able to make it all work once my air filter finally shows up.

So the vortec motors use a nice assembly to hold the plug wires. I figured I would try and see if I could use those brackets and it took a lil modification to make them work but they worked better than I would have thought. More wiring too..

So I tried like heck to make sure the chassis was perfect prior to paint but found one problem. It seems I made the electrical center mount too perfect and tight to where once its in place and wired the inner panel won't be able to be removed since it has to raise to move away from the mounts and the wiring is unde,r the tube so it won't be able to raise.

So started by removing the old mount carefully and making a new one and repainting the area...

I was pretty bummed that I wasn't able to pull off what I wanted without having to change anything on the chassis.

Next I had to modify the inner panel where it mates up to the electrical center. Prior there was matched holes to the center but with it this way I can lower both items to remove the inner panel.
