so whats the ideal year and model for d44s for swaps?

78-79 1/2 tons are no good because of the cast arm mounts, correct me if im wrong.
Are any of the disc brake Early bronco d44's high pinion? Are they the same width as the 78-79?
Are the 3/4 tons wider than the 1/2 ton?

Ive ran a 79 44 in my old cherokee. Loved the width but didnt love the cast mounts. what are my options

Some more fine reading.

And if the fords are anything like the dodges, the 1/2 ton should be wider than the 3/4 ton for some reason. :eeek:

thanks that site was organized better and easier to read.

from the info there the early broncos are a little bit more narrow and are low pinions, the 3/4 tons are wider. It looks like the 76-77 f150 is the perfect one. hi pinion, discs, big ujoints, and welded c-wedges :awesomework:

Or if you can find it a F150 Camper Special I think is what it was called. It used leaf springs in the front instead of coils. Hard to find but they are out there. I bought a bare 76 housing off Ebay and then narrowed it to Waggy width.
