Hiking Thread

Yeah there are some places you just can't drive to:D

Did you make it to the lookout?

I didn't make it this year and its too late now.

Time to start a skiing thread. Anyone randonee?:stirpot:

No. We almost made it to Tin Can Gap. My wife has a knee that wasn't in that great of shape and it started to hurt after we passed Goat Flat. I may have to leave her home next year.:redneck:

We heard about this from some hikes after our trip. http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20080827/NEWS01/808279997

Yeah its a pretty long hike just to get to Goat Flat, thats as far as most normal people go.

And after tin can gap is when it gets most difficult, definitely not a leisure stroll. Thats why 3 fingers claims so many hikers, like in the news story- its not the only one this year. The first 6 miles are just regular hiking so a lot of people keep going and underestimate how dangerous the last 2 miles are. Then a minor mishap or bad decision leads to a series of bad events and next thing you know your on the news.

I hiked up Granite Mountain last week, on that last bright, totally clear sunny day we had on Monday.... well, it was stunning. We had a 360* view, we saw Rainier, Baker, and Hood! I wish I could figure out how to re-size the damn pictures, I've been wanting to post them all week!

('puters.....  )
