Ideas on where?

Gonna be taking a week off work to go somewhere fun with the wife. My problem is we could care less about the beach or the smokeys....any suggestions? Within 8-9 hours from N. Alabama.

Fly to Vegas, enjoy what Vegas has to offer, rent a car and check out the desert. The trip can be done actually cheaper than driving 8-9 hrs away and staying in a hotel somewhere.

I want to do this. I figure I could see all I want in Vegas in a few days, then drive out to Sand Hollow (Hurricane, UT) and rent a Jeep or RZR for a couple days.

If you go to Vegas, also go to Zion National Park. It is about 2.5hrs scenic drive away. We stay in Springdale UT a couple of days since it borders Zion. Sand Hollow is a short drive out of the way on the way to Zion.

I went to Vegas twice last year for work... Stayed at a Casino /Hotel on Freemont and enjoyed it. I've been wanting to take a real vacation with my wife out there. I have actually been trying to book flights this morning. Thanks for helping me make my mind up.

Ashville NC, went last year in spring. Great town, low key, lots brewers of beer, Biltmore House.

My wife and I did a weeks worth of Charleston and Savannah and had a great time. Lots of oddball stuff to do and eat/ drink until you're miserable, but well worth it.
