I dont have a clue as to which one to get my wife. Does anyone here have one? I have seen that there are different types too. Any insight would be appreciated!

Get her a laptop instead or just an iphone. You can do more with both of them and have the same or less money in them.

I ended up with a laptop. Mainly to be able to store pics/music/movies. Otherwise all I use a computer for at home is internetz, pron and email. I wanted to want an iPad, but just wasn't practical for the storage capability and other items listed above.wontwork said:

Ipad dont have a usb port either. I would get a net book (little lab top) before aipad

I have a 32gb Ipad with the 3g service plan. I would not want one that just had wifi only. I can use mine anywhere I have cellular service. I have an adapter that Apple makes that you put your sd card into that you can download your photos with. It is not as bulky as a computer for traveling, and I can get my email on it. It is a handy device, had my work not paid for it I do not think I could have justified the cost of it though.
The best one to buy is none of them. Don't be an apple queer like Joel. Their **** is ridiculously overpriced unless you like paying for trendiness. Buy a net book or another full functioning small laptop for much less with more functionality

And for the record, I did say I would not have bought an iPad out of my pocket.

If you get a crappy brand of PC, like a Dell you will probably hate life so that is a sound arguement I guess but not sure if it justifies the cost of an Apple product. I bought a Toshiba for my wife and it was half the price of MacBook and it is great. If it were a Dell it probably would have been replaced 5 times by now.

the thing with ipads is they are a cool hot item that have the capability to do alot of stuff. but all that stuff cost $$$.
there are TONS of cool apps and they are constantly coming out with cool new things for them.
you can get the 3g service through at&t or verizon now and download videos/ apps/ surf the web anywhere. it is fast and has lots of space for music and other bs.
if your looking for something to spend a little $$$ on and have the capibility to be an ipod/computer/media device. then id say go for it. and for the money a 32g will be plenty.

I also have personally watched a droid phone smoke the **** out of an ipad in the way of speed and data connectivity.. I went to verizon and att this week and took a look at them, they did not seem as fast as I was led to believe.. On another note I am a big Sony Vaio fan but they are over priced as well...Your gonna laugh, but I started buying the 299.99 lap tops at Wallyworld last year...SWEET they are super light, my battery lasts up to 6 hours and they can do just about anything...They are down to 249.99 now and they are still very quick! The greatest thing about them is that it is cheaper to just transfer your data to a hard drive in your home and chuck the sob in the dumpster because buying a new one is twice as cheap than having a small notebook fixed. Just my opinion.. I love my little cheapo 10" laptop from walmart, I straight abuse and beat the heck out of it, It is smokin fast and super cheap to fix...Hell you can even get one in pink if your wife is into that color.. Just a thoughtsommertime

My wife won 2 IPADS at her job pimping wickless candles, they are nice and trendy but have there downfalls too.....I cant figure out how to look at porn without paying.....its sends me to some damn mobile porn website bs everytime!!!

My mom has an Ipad and it's cool and everything, but its kind of a pain in the ass...but if your getting one just get a regular Wifi model and tether your iphone for free internetz. I have a macbook and would rather use that any day over the Ipad, I have windows on my Mac so I can run whatever on it.

The iPad also keep my kids occupied. It was a lifesaver on the 11 hour drive to Disney World back in October. And I agree, it is a hot item and it does have its downfalls. Over all though it is pretty cool. I have never had internet access at my deer camp except on my phone. But now I can use the iPad up there. Plus I do not have to drag my expensive Macbook Pro up there to download deer cam pics now.
As far as computers go, I do not see ever going back to a PC. Mac and don't look back
