jeep air intake post your oppinion

i was havin a discussion with a friend who just graduated from u.t.i. about performance parts and we came to the topic of air filters for my jeep. he says he has had nothing but bad experiences with k&n. i asked him what he suggests and he said that he was not sure but to ask on here and see what comes up in discussion. so what is your opinion and why? in case you are wondering it is for a 97 tj 4.0

Well, I have had many K&N's over the years, without any problems---The key is PROPER maintenance!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the other side of the coin, I have been to many classes that bring claims such as K&N, as well as any oil-type filter media, allow more air to flow due to bigger 'holes' in the media; the LIGHT oil film is supposed to counteract that....:eeek: To each his/her own is my opinion....:awesomework:
