JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
A Jefferson County man is suing his doctors and a local hospital, alleging that he went in for a circumcision but when he woke up, doctors had amputated his genitals.
The medical malpractice lawsuit was filed on Tuesday, July 22 against Princeton Baptist Medical Center, Urology Centers of Alabama, Simon-Williamson Clinic, and two doctors.
In that lawsuit, the man says he went in to the hospital in June for a scheduled circumcision, and was never told that procedure could lead to an amputation, and also says when he woke up, his doctors didn't provide an explanation as to why it was medically necessary to amputate.
The lawsuit alleges the doctors either negligently or wantonly performed the amputation or didn't seek help when complications came up during the surgery.
We reached out to attorneys for the man and to Princeton for comment tonight but haven't heard back. We hope to talk to them on Thursday.
