Looking at getting a new tow rig

My buddy, Spdkilz on here, has a dmax on 37s that gets 22 mpg unloaded and got 20.8 pulling my truggy back from Tennessee. No lie, no bullshit. I called him every name in the book when he used to tell me that crap, but I have seen it with my own eyes. :****:

I'm a ford guy to me nothing compares. The Chevy is a nice truck but I can't get past the ifs. Never liked dodge.....ever.
None of them are going to get high teens or 20s pulling a load of any size.

So you are calling me a liar? :fish:

What he said about fuel mileage! I buy inventory for new car stores, so i drive them all, since about 07 when they went to low sulfer fuel, never seen any of them get over 15 or 16 mpg! and far as the IFS, we are not rock crawing these trucks! they ride and handle alot better! Im a chevy guy, but they all got there highs and lows! The new body Dodge has really caught up with times, and the Ford had always looked good, but had crappy engines, and when the the new 2015 Chevy gets here, it will be tits!

All of the big 3 make pretty good HD trucks. I was a Chevy man, bought the Dodge b/c of the Cummins motor, solid axle, and price. I bought my '12 Dodge cheaper than I could have bought a similar equipped gas burner Chevy.

If you got the funds, buy whichever one you like best, I think they are all good.

With the winter we are having we will all need new trucks soon because three county thinks the road needs more salt :dunno:

After looking at all truck and driving the ford and Chevy several times and several models I have almost decided my 05 is a better truck.

I agree that all the big 3 trucks are good trucks. I favor fords. they are just good solid working trucks. that said, I am still working the hell out of my 7.3
with the fuel mileage people around me are getting in the newer diesels some are trading to a gas motor truck. good power, more options on truck (for same price as diesel truck) and cheaper maintenance.
anybody on here considering going to gas when the time comes to buy a new tow rig? like a f350 with 6.2?
just wondering

My company was running 7 power stroke 6.0 trucks. I eventually had to send my mechanics to ford school and buy all the tools to become 6.0 specialist. After they all got about 250k I replaced 5 of them with 2014 Dodge 3500's. I drove all the trucks, but I have a 3500 that has the 6.7 cummins I bought in 07 and it's never seen the shop. That led to the Dodge purchase. The new trucks drive and ride awesome, but the old 6.0 trucks will burn em in a drag race in stock form. But all these trucks are still 18k miles and less so I feel like after they have some run time they will pick up the pace. My 07 drastically got better at 25k. I've pulled some VERY stupid heavy loads with it and it really does well. I expect the same from these others.

With that said, for my personal truck I am considering upgrading soon from my first gas powered truck in 12 years. I am highly considering Ford because they are quieter and I like the look better than the rest. Although the Dodge is the smartest choice because I am running 5 more with filters already in stock. We'll see. But both trucks seem to be great.

Side note, I still have my old personal 6.0 in the fleet and it's at 320k miles with nothing more than a PTC trans swap, injectors, gaskets and head stud change. It has straight exhaust . It is still a beast and it runs great! But we worked on 5 of them like they where lemons.

They say the new dodges will get low 20mpgs if you eliminate the dpf and egr and add a programmer but it will also void the warranty so I will suck it up and live with 15mpg til warranty runs out

That is complete BS because I have one fully deleted and mileage still sucks

what kinda of mileage are you getting? I would think it would be better than what I am getting!! mine is a 2012 completely stock 6 speed and I average 15mpg

I love my 05 dmax too, I kinda want something new.... but its a damn good truck and the only thing really showing the 250,000 miles it has is the steering wheel.

Mine also and it's not bad. I'm getting about the same mpg as a new truck, can work on most of myself, parts are not near as high since aftermarket has most of that covered, and I got the title with no payments.

If everyone wants fuel mileage go buy a damn Prius :****: My 09 DMax gets about 14-15 mpg on 35s but hell I drove half tons with bigger tires all my life and gas mileage sucked on them atleast I can pull whatever I want now so I don't fret the fuel mileage :driving:
