A friend of mine wants to go camping for his birthday. the problem is that he wants to go to priest lake Idaho. and it means i would have to drive like 7 hrs each way on a normal 2 day weekend... i would rather only drive 250ish miles from seattle...

he wants to do priest lake becouse of the weather, and it being a lake (good for the dogs)

can you all suggest places within 250 to 300 miles of seattle to camp
-has to have a body of water that is fun to swim in, no fast rivers.
-got to be able to drink :)
-dont want to be shoulder to shoulder with a ton of other campers

looking for places in diffrent locations, north south east and west so that we can dodge bad weather.

thanks guys

pics would help to

For nice weather lake camping like you are talking about I like the Sun Lake/Soap Lake area in eastern WA. There are state parks there. Good boating lakes, if you go on a popular weekend its way way too busy but if you pick a non-holiday to go its usually fairly quiet.

The wind can be really kicken this time of year through Sun Lakes if you don't mind wind. Usually the more into summer we get the less wind over there.
