I am looking at one that has a manuel trans. Any reason I should pass on it, are they reliable or should I settle on an auto? Year is a 97(105,000 miles). Thanks for helping this noob out.:D

The AX-15 5 speed is pretty strong. As long as you get an inline 6/manual it'll have the AX-15. Just make sure its and external slave. :redneck:

The 5 speeds were fine.
If you want an auto you're better off installing it yourself. The early TJ's didn't have OD and the later model OD units were a POS. You're better off with an AW4 swap.

I have a '97 with a TF999 auto tranny. I have wheeled it hard with no tranny problems, ... fixxed fluid starvation with a Currie deep pan. :masturbanana[1]:

ax15 trans are fine for strength, but stick with the lighter chrysler gear oil, or they will shift hard into 3rd.
