I'm looking to get into the sport of Light DH and FR. I've been searching around and have come upon a few Bikes that are within my price range and was curious if any of you have insights or experiences to any of them.

1. K2 Zed 4.4
2. K2 Sidewinder FS
3. Trek 4300 Disc

Somethings im looking for in a bike. Disc breaks, solid frame, "good" components, and to be around $500. Yes, I'm well aware that to get a good DH bike, they start at $1500, but im just starting and need to make sure that i'll enjoy the sport enough to drop that much coin into it.

Is a FS bike really necessary for trails like Duthy Hill and trails around Lake Padden?

I have to see these side by side...:eeek:

I think I would put these bikes in the All Mountain category and not light freeride. Mainly because they all have very similar components to a bike i had and it was an AM bike.
