My cherokee won't start in park need help!!!

hi everyone need some help here. My cherokee will start in neutral but won't start in park? any help would be appreciated thanks:awesomework:

Thats what iv been doing they want 334 new for that NSS at o'reileys and i was like no thanks! will starting it in neutral hurt it??

I'd put my money more on the switch needing adjusted though. Been a while since I installed an AW-4 but the PRNDL switch should be like any other, line on the housing line on the piece around the shift shaft need to line up in neutral for the truck to know what gear you're in.

They do go bad periodically, and they are all over the place for pricing...I've seen 'em as low as 160 for new...

The NSS is expensive to replace, but it doesn't need to be replaced. It can easily be removed, cleaned, adjusted and reinstalled in around an hour. Try reading here:

Depends on the year of the rig. If it's a late model, it will cause a check engine light if bypassed.

Keep in mind, it will be able to be started with the shifter in any position, may or may not be a big deal to you, and you'll lose your reverse lights.

I just shoved a paperclip in the connector when my nss went out. Worked great for years.:awesomework:

i dont want to lose my reverse lights need those since its a daily driver. And the paper clip idea that might just work ill be takeing the NSS out this weekened and clean it up and we'll see from there i guess. Thanks for all the info everyone:awesomework:
