Odd tire question

I run a set of very beefy aluminum OEM Honda Passport wheels.

I usually throw them on the bubble balancer and more times than not they are within spec.

Seems cheap rims need the weights more than tires, I notice.

Ive found on long road trips unbalanced tires blow out twice as fast as balanced... could be a coincident. i balance all my trailer tires now. I seem to have alot less issues.

Interesting. Since I started towing over 10 years ago I never have and never had abnormal blowouts. The last year I have had a vibration only when I am towing so I figured it was a tire issue on the trailer. Time for 2 new tires so maybe will get them balanced at the same time.

Balance
Use trailer radials
Replace entire set every 6 years
Not the cheapest way, but I don't have tires blowout.
I wonder if you have a tire that has separated. How old?

So do any of you guys balance your trailer tires?
Absolutely....
A unbalanced tire/wheel creates ALOT of extra heat from the bouncing/flexing... You may not be able to 'see' the bounce/flex, but you should feel it, and the tires DEFINITELY feel it...

Nope.

I've done lots of long hauls. Cross country and down to KOH several times.

Buy good tires and you don't have to balance them.
