How the hell do you get the chrome off wheels....the safe way? The chrome on my bmw wheels is peeling ....I want to get it off and powder coat my wheels at work. What is the safe way to do it without damaging the wheels?

powdercoat will require a nice sandblasted surface and this process will remove all old plating.:awesomework:

Best way is to take it to a chrome shop and have them reverse the process to strip the chrome. Sand blasting works as well, just takes forever.

Drive around Edgewood in the winter, whatever it is they are spraying on the roads will remove the paint from everything it touches, took the powdercoating off my springs and the paint off my shocks

To my knowledge, it is the de-icer. It eats the finish right off aluminum wheels.
